Description

1-, 1 1 Arrangement on a Ventilator Ridge Formed From Ridge Tiles 2321480
The invention relates to an arrangement on a ventilator ridge which is formed from ridge tiles and in which the ridge tiles which are laid so as to overlap one another in a scale-like manner after the fashion of a semicircular trough form a ventilation gap of approximately sickle-shaped cross section in the overlap region.
In the prior art it is known to construct socalled ventilator ridges. For this purpose, ridge tiles which are constructed after the fashion of a semicircular trough are laid so as to overlap one another in a scale-like manner on a ridge lath of the rooftruss. To fix that end of the respective ridge tile which overlaps in each case in the overlap region, a ridge clamp is frequently used in this arrangement. The latter is nailed onto the ridge lath. It has an approximately U-shaped clamping- stirrup part at its free end part not attached to the ridge lath, it being possible to insert the end of the overlapping ridge tile into said U-shaped clamping-stirrup part so that said ridge tile is securely fixed in position. It is typical of such ventilator ridges that a ventilation gap is formed in the overlapping region of the ridge tiles which has an approximately sickle-shaped cross section. Such a construction is necessary to ventilate the roof cladding. A disadvantage in such a construction is that birds penetrate the ventilation gap to an increasing extent and nest under the ridge tile. This is undesirable since the birds partially or completely seal the ventilation gap, a soiling additionally occurring in the nonaccessible region as a result of the nest material and as a result of droppings or excrement of the birds.
Proceeding from this prior art, the object of the invention is to provide an arrangement of the generic kind in which the nesting of birds in the ventilation gap is avoided.
2 To achieve this object, it is proposed that a barrier means approximately matched to the cross-sectional shape of the ventilation gap is disposed in front of the ventilation gap or in the opening of the ventilation gap, which barrier means is dimensionally stable and has a multiplicity of ventilation openings or forms, in the intended assembly position, ventilation openings with the surrounding ridge-tile parts, and in that the ventilation openings are dimensioned smaller in cross section than corresponds to a flight-entry opening for small birds.
The arrangement of such a barrier means prevents birds being able to nest in the ventilation gap. The size of the residual ventilation openings is preferably smaller than 25 mm in this case. It is known that small birds such as, for example, titmice, fly-catchers or nuthatches require flightentry openings of at least 26 mm. The ventilation openings of the barrier means should therefore be smaller than such flight-entry openings necessary for small birds.
In an arrangement in which the overlapping ridge tile is held securely in position by a ridge clamp which can be attached to the ridge lath and which can be mounted on the end-face edge of the ridge tile by means of a U-shaped clamping-stirrup part, provision is preferably made that the barrier means can be attached with a holding means to the U-shaped clamping-stirrup part.
As a result, the holding means can be attached in a simple manner to the clamping- stirrup part of the ridge clamp and consequently be held securely in position, it being possible for the arrangement also to take place subsequently, that is to say with ventilator ridges already laid since the U-shaped clampingstirrup part of the ridge clamp is also then accessible.
In an arrangement in which the ridge clamp comprises a shaped sheet-metal strip, provision is preferably made that the free limb of the U-shaped clamping- stirrup part of the ridge 3 clamp is of narrower design than the base of the Ushaped clamping- stirrup part, which base extends parallel to the surface formed by the end-face edge of the ridge tile, and in that the barrier means has, as holding means, a bracket element which is approximately C-shaped in cross section and which can be pushed onto the base of the U-shaped clamping- stirrup part and overlaps, by means of its troughs formed by the cross- sectional shape, the lateral edges of the base which project beyond the narrow limb of the clamping-stirrup part in the transverse direction of the clamping stirrup part.
In the case of a finally installed ventilator ridge together with ridge clamps, this arrangement makes it possible to install and fix securely in position the barrier means retrospectively in a simple manner by pushing the barrier means by means of the bracket element which is C-shaped in cross section onto the wider region of the base of the U-shaped clampingstirrup part. As a result of the fact that the free limb proceeding from said base of the ridge clamp is of narrower construction than the base, the projecting lateral edges of the base can be used for pushing the Cshaped bracket element on. In this case, the bracket element can preferably be nonpositively pushed onto the lateral edges of the base of the U-shaped clamping-stirrup part.
In an arrangement in which the overlapped ridge tile has a projecting lug or a projecting longitudinal web which is central with respect to the overlapping ridge tile in the overlap region, provision is preferably made that the barrier means has a cutout so that the barrier means can be mounted on the lug or the longitudinal web after the fashion of a rider.
In addition, provision can be made that the ventilation openings of the barrier means are formed by perforations, grid structures or cutouts of other shapes in the barrier means which is constructed as a twodimensional element.
Alternatively or additionally, provision can also be made 4 that the ventilation openings are formed by finger-type elements of the barrier means whose free ends are in contact, in the intended assembly position, with the outside surface of the overlapped ridge tile or with the inside surface of the overlapping ridge tile.
Exemplary embodiments of the arrangement according to the invention are shown in the drawing and are described in greater detail below. In the drawing:
Figure 1 shows a part of a ventilator ridge in elevation; Figure 2 shows a detail of Figure 1 seen from behind; Figure 3 shows a variant of the part according to Figure 2 in front elevation; Figure 4 shows an enlarged diagram of a detail of Figure 1 seen from behind.
Drawing Figure 1 shows a part of a ventilator ridge formed from ridge tiles 1, 2. The ridge tiles 1, 2 are constructed after the fashion of a semicircular trough and are laid so as to overlap one another in scalelike manner. In the overlap, region they form a ventilation gap 4 of approximately sickle-shaped cross section. In order to avoid the possibility that'birds can nest through said gap, a barrier means 5 approximately matched to the cross-secional shape of the ventilation gap 4 is disposed in front of the ventilation gap 4 or in the opening of the ventilation gap 4, which barrier means is dimensionally stable and has a multiplicity of ventilation openings or forms, in the intended mounting position, ventilation openings with the surrounding ridge-tile parts. In this arrangement, the ventilation openings are dimensioned smaller in cross section than corresponds to a flight-entry opening for small birds, for example they are constructed so as to be less than 25 mm in cross section. In the embodiment which is shown in Figures 1 and 2 and also Figure 4, the ventilation openings are formed by essentially elongated cutouts which are substantially less than 25 mm in the transverse dimension, while they are larger than 25 mm. in the longitudinal dimension. Nevertheless, even these openings are adequate as protection against the nesting of birds since such birds require at least a flight-entry hole of approximately 26 mm in diameter.
As is evident, in particular, from Figure 1, the overlapping tile 1 is held securely in position by a ridge clamp which can be attached to the ridge plate, which is not shown, which ridge clamp is mounted on the endface edge of the ridge tile 1 by means of a U-shaped clamping-stirrup part 6. In this case, the barrier means 5 can be attached to the U-shaped clamping- stirrup part 6 by a holding means 7. In the exemplary embodiment, the ridge clamp comprises a shaped sheet-metal strip. The free limb 8 of the U-shaped clamping-stirrup part 6 of the ridge clamp is of narrower design than the base 9, which extends in the intended mounting position parallel to the plane formed or spread-out by the end- face edge of the ridge tile 1. The barrier means has, as holding means 7, a bracket element 10 which is approximately Cshaped in cross section and which can be pushed onto the base 9 of the U-shaped clamping- stirrup part 6 in drawing Figures 1 and 4 from above and overlaps, by means of its troughs formed by the crosssectional shape, the lateral edges 11 of the base 9 which project beyond the narrow limb 8 of the clamping-stirrup part 6 in the transverse direction of the clamping-stirrup part 6.
As is evident, in particular, from Figure 1, the overlapped ridge tile 2 has a projecting lug 12 or a corresponding projecting longitudinal web which is central with respect to the overlapping ridge tile 1 in the overlap region. The barrier means 5 has a matching cutout 13 so that the barrier means 5 can be mounted on the lug 12 or the longitudinal web after the fashion of a rider, as is illustrated, in particular, on the basis of Figure 1.
6 The ventilation openings of the barrier means 5 can be formed by perforations, grid structures or cutouts of other shapes in the barrier means 5 constructed as a two-dimensional element.
However, as is illustrated by Figure 3, they may also be formed by fingertype elements 14 whose free ends are in contact, in the intended assembly position, with the outside surface of the overlapped ridge tile 2 or with the inside surface of the overlapping ridge tile 1 or terminate only at a short distance in front of said surfaces.
The arrangement according to the invention makes it possible in a simple manner to install a suitable barrier means 5 and, to be specific, both in the case of a new installation of a ventilation ridge and also in the case of the retrofitting of already existing ventilator ridges.
The invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiments, but is widely variable within the scope of the disclosure.
All novel individual or combined features disclosed in the description and/or drawing are regarded as essential to the invention.
