Abstract
232,012. Dempster & Sons, Ltd., R., Horsfall, J. E., and Lumb, H. March 17, 1924. Purifiers.-The flow of gas through a series of purifiers, condensers, &c. is controlled by a series of tubular valves comprising each an outer casing B with apertures b<3>, b<4> leading to the top and bottom of the purifier and a plug valve A rotating therein. The valve A is open at one end leading to the mains and comprises two parts a, a' of larger diameter separated by a part a<2> of smaller diameter, which, with the casing B, forms an arnular passage a<3> communicating with a side passage b<2> leading to a similar passage in the next valve. The portions a, a<1> are formed respectively with apertures a<4>, a<6> and recesses a<5>, a<7>; the apertures a<4>, a<6> serving to placed the interior of the valves in communication with the apertures b<3>, b<4> while the recesses a<5>, a' serve to provide communication between the apertures b<3>, b<4> and the side passages b<2>. All the valve movements are controlled by a spindle a<9> operated by a handle b<10>. Specification 211,269 is referred to.
