Abstract
A traffic screen is mountable along a motorway by using the "W" section of the safety rail which runs along most such carriageways. The attachment principle is that preformed holes will be used to attach uprights and when sufficient uprights have been attached a screen with support holes will be slipped over the uprights thus forming the screen. This obscures accidents from drivers as an adjacent carriageway.
Description
This invention relates to a temporary erectable traffic screen.
Introduction.
Everyday on motorways and dual carriageways there are incidences or accidents which hold up the regular flow of traffic. These events often draw traffic to a standstill and are the cause of frustration and other accidents as motorists try to look at what's happened.
These events can be costly to everyone concerned in terms of wasted time and frustration but especially to businesses who have a product or service to deliver.
The traffic chaos in not limited to the same carriageway but also effects the opposite carriageway.
This invention aims to offer a solution or partial solution to this problem that effects road users on the opposite carriageway.
The traffic screen is an invention that will screen off the event to users of the opposite carriageway by means of erecting an attachable screen to the road safety rails which run down the middle of a motorway or dual carriageway.
The screen can be stored in a portable format and could be erected by the authorities at the scene.
The screen is of a opaque nature and is of a sufficient height to prevent road users to see the event over to top of it.
The screen will be supported at regular intervals by means of upright fixings which will be attached to the "W" section of the road safety rail by releasable fixings that work in conjunction with the construction of the safety rail.
The screen is designed so that it can be put up in place quickly and if additional screening is required another similar section can be added to provide additional length.
Fig I shows the cross-section of the safety rail and the screen upright attached
Fig 2 shows the screen in place secured to the safety rail.
Measurements have been deliberately omitted as further research is required.
Claims (1)
- ClaimsThe traffic screen will be of a construction to attach to the road safety rail utilising the shape of its construction and using the any preformed holes built into it.The traffic screen will totally or partially obscure the road incident to the same carriageway or opposite carriageway by means of an erectable curtain supported by uprights and attached to the road safety rail so as to increase the height of the safety rail to the necessary degree to prevent view.
