Abstract

This invention provides a tool and a method for the removal of nails from surfaces such as timber in which the nail or similar item is removed by gripping the shank. The tool (1) uses a gripping surface provided on a rotatable member mounted relative to a further gripping surface. When the shank of the nail is introduced between the two gripping surfaces, rotation of the rotatable member will move that rotatable member towards the other gripping surface. The tool (1) may then be provided with a lever type action and as the rotatably mounted gripping surface moves against the shank (10) it is encouraged to reduce the spacing between the gripping surfaces to further grip the shank (10).
