Abstract

A rawlplug extractor comprises a spindle 1 with a 'T' bar handle 2 attached at the head. The spindle widens as it approaches the head. There is a clockwise thread around the spindle 1 which allows the extractor to be screwed into and grip the rawlplug, then by pulling on the 'T' bar handle 2 the rawlplug will come out of the wall in which it is embedded.

Description

RAWPLUG EXTRACTOR This invention relates to a rawplug extractor.
Rawplugs are items used both by professional and Do It Yourself people in decorating, home improvements and general building work. If an alteration or re-decorating is required the rawplug may need to be removed to allow a clean finish to the wall.
Once inserted a rawplug is difficult to remove, without causing damage to the wall by bringing plaster away with the rawplug, or causing injury to oneself by having to cut the proud end of the rawplug with a blade.
A rawplug extractor comprises of a single component. A spindle with a clockwise thread, allowing a secure insertion into the rawplug to be removed, and a 'T' bar handle welded to the head of the spindle, which on turning and applying leverage allows the rawplug extractor and rawplug to be easily removed.
The spindle is narrow at the beginning, becoming wider as it reaches the head at the 'T' bar handle, this is for easy insertion into the rawplug and to accommodate different size rawplugs.
The idea of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing.
FIGURE 1 shows the rawplug extractor as a single body component.
It consists of a clockwise threaded spindle 1 with a 'T' bar handle 2 welded onto the end.
When the rawplug extractor is entered into the rawplug it is turned clockwise, allowing the clockwise threaded spindle 1 to grip the rawplug. By exerting force on the handle 2 and pulling away from the wall the rawplug is removed, leaving a clean finish on the wall.

Claims (3)

1. A rawplug extractor comprises of a single component. A spindle with a clockwise thread allowing a secure insertion into the rawplug to be removed, and a 'T' bar handle welded to the head of the spindle, which by turning and applying leverage allows the rawplug extractor and rawplug to be removed.
2. A rawplug extractor as claimed in CLAIM 1, wherein the 'T' bar handle is located close to the spindle head, allowing for extra leverage by using a claw hammer or pliers for removal of stubborn rawplugs.
3. A rawplug extractor as claimed in CLAIM 1 or 2, wherein the shaft has a close clockwise thread at its tip which grips onto the rawplug when the rawplug extractor is screwed into position.
3. A rawplug extractor as claimed in CLAIM 1 or 2, wherein the spindle has a close clockwise thread which grips onto the rawplug when the rawplug extractor is screwed into position.
Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1. A rawplug extractor comprises of a single component. A shaft with a wider clockwise thread at its tip, allowing a secure insertion into the rawplug to be removed, and a 'T' bar handle welded to the head of the shaft which by turning and applying leverage allows the rawplug extractor and rawplug to be removed.
2. A rawplug extractor as claimed in CLAIM 1, wherein the 'T' bar handle is located close to the shaft head, allowing for extra leverage by using the claw hammer or pliers for removal of stubborn rawplugs.
