Abstract

A setting out profile which has two cross members 10 and three legs 12, put together to form an L shape platform. Slideable fixings 16 for the attachment of string lines are designed so that they may be moved to the desired position to coincide with the planned construction. Being of a hinged construction with the added feature of detachable legs the profile can be dismantled for storage purposes. The profile can be removed and repositioned to coincide with the various stages of setting out new constructions.

Description

SETTING OUT PROFILE This invention relates to a setting out profile.
The current method of setting out new buildings, houses, extensions etc. is the use of two inch by one inch roofing baton or wood of similar dimensions, staked into the ground with cross members of the same material nailed to these to adhieve a platform to which a string line can be attached. This method can be time consuming to the tradesman and may in some cases prove to be inaccurate due to its general construction.
According to the present invention there is provided a setting out profile comprising two cross members hinged together to achieve an L shape platform. Three legs attached to the cross members provide a firm base. String lines are attached to slideable fixings which run along the length of each cross member. This enables the tradesman accuracy in the setting out process. The profile can be used initially in setting out the proposed construction. Once done they can easily be removed while the foundations are dug and filled with concrete. They can then be replaced before brick/block work comences in order to set the construction out accurately.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows inperspective, the setting out profile; Figure 2 illustrates the existing method used; Figure 3 shows the slideable fixing to which string lines are attached; Figure 4 illustrates the profile's use.
Refering to the drawing the profile comprises two cross members 10 and three legs 12 joined together to form an L shape platform.
In order to attach the legs to the cross members, nuts are attached to screw threads at the top of each leg 14, and points at the base of each leg assist in positioning the leg into the ground.
Slideable fixings 16 for the purpose of attaching string lines are designed to run the length of each cross member to accomodate the desired position of the proposed construction.
Being of hinged construction with detachable legs, the profile can be dismantled for easy storage.

Claims (7)

1 A setting out profile comprising two cross members and three legs to form an L shape platform which can be assembled and dissassembled for the purpose of new construction.
2 A setting out profile as claimed in claim 1 wherein slideable fixings on the cross members are used to attach string lines to give the outline of the proposed construction.
3 A setting out profile as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the legs can be detached for storage purposes.
4 A setting out profile as claimed in claimed in claim 2 or claim 3 wherein the cross members can be folded flat for storage purposes.
5 A setting out profile as claimed in any preceeding claim that can be removed and repositioned on site as required during the various stages in setting out new constructions.
6 A setting out profile as claimed in any preceeding claim with a spike at the base of each leg to assist in positioning the profile into the ground.
7 A setting out profile substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-4 of the accompanying drawing.
