Abstract

A method of constructing a building in which a preformed floor unit 3 rests on a support 2, comprising the steps of placing along the top of the support 2 a strip 1 with a horizontal plate portion and an upright plate portion, and placing on the horizontal plate portion an end of the floor unit 3, so that the strip acts as a tie member along the length of the support. The strip 1 may be of metal, concrete, fibre-reinforced cement or plastics, and the upper edge 7 may be used as a screed board. Downwardly- extending flanges may be provided at each longitudinal edge of the strip to locate it on the support. A gutter may be formed along the upper edge of the strip. <IMAGE>
