Multiple-tool and disc-tool machines; tools; travelling and propelling gear.-An implement for making trenches between rows of plants is provided with a longitudinal series of shares arranged to penetrate to gradually increasing depth, and with an upright post bearing laterally extending and depending arms carrying wheels or runners at their lower ends. The frame consists of two channel-irons 1 riveted together with distance pieces between them. At the front are two steering-wheels 6 having cutting-discs 7 on their inner sides. They are steered by means of a handle 9 which may be clamped in position by a clamp 30. A disc coulter 10 is provided to make a cut along the centre of the trench to be cut- The stems 15 of the shares 12 are wedged between the distance pieces separating the channel-irons 1. The first share is provided with mouldboards 11 and cuts to the same depth as the discs 7. The following shares cut successively to further depths equal to the depths cut by depending cutters 17 carried at the sides of the preceding share. Each share is narrower than the one in front of it. Behind the rear share is an inclined plate the edges of which remove the ridges left by the shares in the inclined sides of the trench. Behind the inclined plate are side and bottom plates 19. mouldboards 20, and horizontal plates 21 that bear on the ground. The weight may be taken by an adjustable wheel 22. The upright post 25 carries two arms 26 that extend laterally in opposite directions and are then bent down. wards to carry adjustable runners or wheels 28 that pass between the rows of plants.
