Abstract
A mop bucket is constructed with a pedestal platform 12 to support a twist action self-wringing type mop, or other mopping means during the compressing squeeze of the wring. When made of plastic by injection moulding it can be made in one piece (except for the handle), instead of two sections for a conventional mop bucket, and can be stacked one inside another for convenient storage and transportation after manufacture. The pedestal 12 is constructed so that the drainage grooves 14 at the top of the pedestal are just above the water level when the mop bucket is in use. By increasing the diameter of the pedestal 12 and making the top platform dished or conical in shape and increasing the depth of the drainage grooves 14 a mop bucket for use with a conventional soft headed mop could be constructed.
Description
MOP BUCKET WITH PEDESTAL PLATFORM
This invention relates to a domestic or industrial mop bucket.
The most well known mop bucket is the type fitted with a conical wringer section. With the invention of self-wringing soft headed mops such as the twist action mop, the wringer section is no longer necessary with the aforementioned mops, but a support for the mop whilst being wrung out in the bucket would be an advantage.
According to the present invention a mop bucket is constructed with a pedestal platform to support a twist action self-wringing type mop during the final compressing squeeze of the wring.
A mop bucket formed in accordance with the invention has a number of advantages, if made of plastic by injection moulding it can be made in one piece, instead of two sections for a conventional mop bucket. Buckets formed in accordance with the invention can also be stacked one inside another for convenient storage and transportation after manufacture.
After use the bucket can be inverted and used to support the mop in a draped storage position.
The invention will now be described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 shows in perspective the whole bucket.
Figure 2 is a cross-sectional view illustrating the pedestal and drainage groves.
Figure 3 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view.
Figure 4 shows in perspective how the invention is used in conjunction with a self-wringing mop.
Figure 5 shows a self-wringing mop in the storage position on the bucket.
Referring to the drawings the pedestal 12 is constructed so that the drainage grooves 14 at the top of the pedestal are just above the water level when the mop bucket is in use.
After use the bucket can be inverted and used to support the mop in a draped storage position see fig.5, to prevent the top rim of the mop bucket being scuffed during this operation there are provided support studs 15. Although the the aforementioned description refers to a mop bucket to suit a self-wringing mop, by increasing the diameter of the pedestal and making the top platform dished or conical in shape and increasing the depth of the drainage grooves a mop bucket for use with a conventional soft headed mop could be constructed (not shown).
Claims (4)

the base to support a self-wringing mop when being wrung
out.
2. A mop bucket as claimed in claim 1 where the top of the
pedestal platform is a dished or inverted cone shaped for
wringing out a mop or mopping means.
3. A mop bucket as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 which is made
in one piece in a mould, except for the handle.
4. A mop bucket substantially as herein described and
illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
