Abstract
A dispenser for dispensing fluids, such as beverages, including a cylinder (3), a piston (8) reciprocable within the cylinder (3), an inlet (20) to the cylinder (3) and an outlet (41) from the cylinder (3). The arrangement is such that the piston (8) in its reciprocable movement within the cylinder (3) pushes metered amounts of liquid from tie cylinder (3) through the outlet (41) on each stroke of the piston (8). The cylinder (3) moves in response to pressure from the fluid being rnetered. The dispenser includes inlet (24, 30) and outlet (48, 53) valves controlled by a controller which responds to signals from proximity switches (60, 61) sensing the position of the piston (8) in the cylinder (3).
