Abstract

A battery unit for a hand machine tool is proposed, which is provided with a charge indicator (34). The battery unit (10) comprises a pot-shaped housing part (20) and a cover (21) which closes said housing part. The charge indicator (34) is disposed in a cavity (27) in a projection (23), which projects laterally from the housing part (10) and is delimited by a front wall (24) lying parallel to a side surface (20a) and by a substantially U-shaped frame (25) surrounding the front wall (24) on three sides. In an upward direction, the cavity (27) is covered by a cover strip (26) projecting from a cover (21).

Description

Batterv unit for a hand machine tool Background art The invention proceeds from a battery unit for a hand machine tool according to the preamble of claim 1.
A battery unit is already known (DE 35 02 449 Al), which is used to receive rechargeable batteries and may be fitted onto a hand machine tool. The battery unit is composed of two housing shells having a longitudinally extending parting plane.
Furthermore, a battery unit is already known commercially, which is provided with a charge indicator.
Advantages of the invention The battery unit according to the invention having the characterizing features of claim 1 has the advantage of being of a compact and handy construction, the charge indicator being disposed on the battery unit in such a way that the size of a housing of the battery unit adapted to the rechargeable batteries to be accommodated therein need be increased no more than is necessary.
By virtue of the measures described in the sub-claims, advantageous developments and improvements of the battery unit indicated in claim 1 are possible.
Drawings An embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the drawings and explained in greater detail in the following description.
Of the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a battery unit and Figure 2 a partial plan view of the battery unit with the cover removed.
Description of the embodiment In Figure 1, 10 denotes a battery unit intended for fitting onto a hand machine tool. To said end, the battery unit 10, also referred to as a battery pack, has guide grooves 11 which are insert able into corresponding guide rails on the hand machine tool. For locking purposes, detent webs 12a, b having guide bevels 13 on the insertion side are provided on the battery unit 10. Viewed in insertion direction, there are in each case two detent webs 12a, b disposed one behind the other so that a double locking action is guaranteed for increased protection against accidental detachment of the battery unit 10. A first detent web 12a is used for preliminary or auxiliary locking and a second detent web 12b is provided for locking in the actual operating position.Further provided on the battery unit 10 is a plug-in element 16 for electrically contacting rechargeable batteries 17, which are housed in the battery unit 10, with a drive motor of the hand machine tool.
The battery unit 10 is of a pot-type style of construction, having a pot-shaped housing part 20 which is closed by means of a cover 21. To said end, the cover 21 is screwed at connecting points 22 to the housing part 20. Integrally formed on one side surface 20a of the battery unit 10 is a projection 23 protruding substantially in the manner of a balcony, which is formed towards the front by a front wall 24 extending parallel to the side surface and by a substantially U-shaped frame 26 surrounding the front wall 24 on three sides. The projection 23 is covered at the top by a cover strip 26 projecting from the cover 21. Formed in the front wall 24 are various cutout windows 29q which are covered by a transparent film 30 (Figure 2). The film 30 may be printed with symbols and is designed to be at least partially translucent. As a protection for the film, the frame 25 and the cover strip 26 project out beyond the front wall 24.
In the projection 23 there is a cavity 27 which, when the cover 21 is removed, is accessible from above. Inserted into the cavity 27 is a printed-circuit board 31 with electronic components, i.a. a plurality of light-emitting diodes 32 and a momentary-contact pushbutton 33. The light-emitting diodes 32 are visible from the outside through the cutout windows 29a.
To said end, the film in the region of the cutout windows 29a is translucent for the light of the light-emitting diodes 32.
The momentary-contact pushbutton 33 is operable through the cutout window 29b.
The parts 31, 32, 33, together with further components which are not shown in detail, form an electronic charge indicator 34 which, after operation of the momentary-contact pushbutton 33, informs the user about the discharge degree of the batteries 17. The pot-shaped construction of the battery unit 10, together with the projection 23 having the upwardly open cavity 27, makes it easy to insert the charge indicator 34 from above into the housing part 20.
