Abstract

A child's seat is secured in a vehicle using the headrest mountings of a passenger seat. The securing means can comprise columns with variable spacing which are inserted into the headrest fixing sockets.

Description

CHILD SEAT FIXING Removable "child seats" for the use of infants and, sometimes, older children in cars are commonly arranged to be secured to an adult seat by means of a lap and/or diagonal safety belt provided for an adult user of the seat.
Such a method of securing a child seat is not wholly satisfactory as the sole means of securement, and it is an object of the present invention to provide improvements relating to securement of child seats.
It is nowadays common for cars to be fitted with headrests which locate in the top of a passenger seat by means of two spaced columns of the headrest, it usually being possible to withdraw the columns from complementary fixing sockets in the seat in order to remove the headrest.
In accordance with the present invention, a child seat is arranged to be secured utilising headrest fixings of a passenger seat in a car, or other road vehicle. The child seat may additionally be secured by making use of seat belts installed for use by an adult occupant of the seat.
Means enabling the child seat to be secured may comprise columns to be inserted instead of a headrest into headrest fixing sockets. The column spacing may be variable to enable the arrangement to be adapted to different socket spacings in different makes of vehicle.

  1. CLAIM
    CHILD CAR SEAT FIXING By using the Headrest fixings on the frame this will hold the seat in position more securely, not allowing it to rock forward or move from side to side.
