Abstract

Cooking-stoves; drying and enamelling ovens.- In ovens for cooking, drying, enamelling, &c., of the kind heated by repeated circulation, through a metal pipe d, of hot combustion products, the outlet end of the pipe d is attached to the suction side of a fan g, the outlet of which is connected, through a duct and. a mixing-chamber i leading from the fireplace h, to the inlet end f of the tube d. The duct j has an opening, controlled by a valve m, communicating with the chimney l. In operation, the valve m is positioned to close the duct j and the fan g started up, the gases from the fireplace being drawn through the chamber i and pipe d and finally passing through the fan to the chimney l. When the oven is sufficiently hot the valve m is adjusted to allow any desired proportion of the gases to pass through the duct to the mixing chamber i and so be recirculated through the pipe d. A number of pipes d may be provided and their ends united by a common connection.
