Description
PAD FOR SEALING THE CONNECTING PORTION OF SASH
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates generally to a door or window, and more particularly to a pad for sealing the connecting portion of sash.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
As shown in FIG. 1, a sealing pad 13 is disposed in the connecting portion located between a horizontal rail 11 and an upright rail 12 of the sash. The sealing pad 13 is generally made of a nonfabric material and is coated respectively on both sides thereof with a layer of a waterprioof material. The sealing pad 13 is cut so as to have a size as required. However, the cut surfaces of the sealing pad 13 are not treated with a waterproof agent and are therefore vulnerable to leaking. As a result, the sealing pad 13 of the nonfabric material is replaced by the sealing pad of a foam plastic waterproof material. However, such a foam plastic pad as described above has inherent shortcomings in that it can be easily pierced by a sharp corner of the horizontal rail 11 of the sash, and that it is easily torn at such time when it is peeled off from the connecting portion between the horizontal rial 11 and the upright rail 12 so as to correct the situation in which the foam plastic pad was disposed improperly in the first place.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
It is therefore the primary objective of the present invention to provide a pad for sealing the connecting portion of a sash, which can not be easily pierced.
It is another objective of the present invention to provide a pad for sealing the connecting portion of a sash, which can not be torn easily.
It is still another objective of the present invention to provide a pad for sealing the connecting portion of a sash, which is suitable for use in sashes of various shapes and sizes.
The foregoing objectives of the present invention are attained by a sealing pad comprising a soft waterproof pad body, a tough plastic membrane, and two releasing pieces.
The pad body has an elastic property similar to that of a compression spring and is made of a foam plastic material.
The plastic membrane is made of a tough plastic material and is adhered to one side of the pad body. Both the pad body and the plastic membrane are provided respectively with an adhesive surface to which the releasing piece is attached detachably.

FIG. 2 shows a partial exploded view of a first preferred embodiment of the present invention.
FIG. 3 shows a partial exploded view of a second preferred embodiment of the present invention.
FIG. 4 shows a plan view of a sash made of aluminium by extrusion.
FIG. 5 shows a schematic view of the second preferred embodiment at work according to the present invention.
FIG. 6 shows a longitudinal sectional view of the connecting portion of a sash.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
As shown in FIG. 2, an adhesive pad 20 of the first preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a pad body 21, a plastic membrane 22, and two releasing pieces 23.
The pad body 21 is flat, platelike and waterproof. The pad body 21 has an elastic property similar to that of a compression spring and is made of a foam plastic material having a plurality of close cells, such as an EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) material.
The plastic membrane 22 is made of a tough plastic material, such as a PVC (polyvinyl chloride) material. The plastic membrane 22 can not be pierced or torn easily and is adhered to one side of the pad body 21.
The pad body 21 and the plastic membrane 22 have respectively an exposed surface which is coated thereon with an adhesive agent. As a result, the adhesive pad 20 has two adhesive surfaces.
The two releasing pieces 23 are made of a paper or plastic material and are provided respectively on one surface thereof with an oil film coated thereon. The releasing pieces 23 can be therefore attached to and detached from the two adhesive surfaces of the adhesive pad 20, thanks to the oil film. Another surface of the releasing pieces 23 is free of the oil film and can be used for printing thereon a trademark and the like.
The adhesive pad 20 of the present invention has a long side 201 of a ladderlike construction, which is provided with a predetermined number of cuts 203 of a predetermined shape. The adhesive pad 20 is provided centrally with a horizontal ripping trace 204 parallel to the longitudinal axis thereof and is further provided on one side thereof with a longitudinal ripping trace 205 perpendicular to the horizontal ripping trace 204.
As shown in FIG. 3, an adhesive pad 30 of the second preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a soft waterproof pad body 31, two tough plastic membranes 32 adhered respectively to both sides of the pad body 31, two plastic membranes 32 having respectively an exposed surface which is coated thereon with an adhesive to form an adhesive surface, and two releasing pieces 33 which are adhered respectively to the two adhesive surfaces of the two plastic membranes 32. The adhesive pad 30 has one long side 301 of a ladderlike construction and further has another long side 302 provided with a predetermined number of cuts 303 of a predetermined shape. The adhesive pad 30 is provided centrally with two horizontal ripping traces 304 extending along the direction of the longitudinal axis thereof and is further provided respectively on two sides thereof with a longitudinal ripping trace 305 perpendicular to the horizontal ripping trace 304.
As shown in FIG. 4, a window 40 made of aluminium by extrusion molding is composed of a right upright rail 41, a left upright rail 42, an upper horizontal rail 43, a middle horizontal rail 44, and a lower horizontal rail 45. Formed with the right upright rail 41 are an upper connecting portion 401, a middle connecting portion 402 and a lower connecting portion 403. Formed with the left upright rail 42 are an upper connecting portion 404, a middle connecting portion 405 and a lower connecting portion 406. The connecting portions on the left are corresponding in shape to the connecting portions on the right. The present invention is provided with two adhesive surfaces. For this reason, it is necessary to provide the adhesive pads having upper, middle and lower shapes. The lower horizontal rail 45 has a shape similar to the shape of the top of the middle horizontal rail 44.The upper horizontal rail 43 has a shape similar to the shape of the bottom of the middle horizontal rail 44. As a result, the present invention is required to provide only the shape of the middle horizontal rail 44 and can be ripped into two pieces by the middle ripping trace for use in connecting the upper horizontal rail and the lower horizontal rail.
As shown in FIG. 5, two adhesive pads 30 of the second preferred embodiment of the present invention are used to connect both ends of the middle horizontal rail 44. Another two adhesive pads 30 are so ripped as to connect both ends of the upper horizontal rail 43 and the lower horizontal rial 45.
As shown in FIG. 6, the releasing piece 33 attached to one side of the adhesive pad 30 is first ripped off to expose the adhesive surface of the adhesive pad 30 before the adhesvie surface of the adhesive pad 30 is attached to a predetermined location of the wall surface of the upright rail 41. The releasing piece 33 attached to another side of the adhesive pad 30 is ripped off or not, the horizontal rail can be located and fastened to the upright rail by means of screws 50 which pass through a metal pad 51 so as to fasten the horizontal rail to the upright rail.
The present invention has inherent advantages in that it comprises a waterproof soft pad body provided on one or two sides thereof with a tough plastic membrane, which is capable of protecting the pad body if the plastic membrane is adhered to the upright rail of a sash and which is capable of improving the waterproof effect of the pad body if the plastic membrane is adhered to the horizontal rail of the sash, as illustrated by the second preferred embodiment of the present invention. In addition, the present invention is relatively cost-effective in view of the fact that the present invention is suitable for use in sashes of various shapes and sizes.
