Abstract
229,762. Wright, A. G. Nov. 30, 1923. Moulds; moulding hollowware ; moulding plastic sheet material. - Relates to the production of hollow articles, particularly gramophone &c. horns, by pasting paper &c. over the surface of a wax &c. core adapted to be withdrawn after softening by heat and consists in the provision of means whereby the core may be withdrawn intact from the moulded article. As shown in Fig. 3, the wax core 1 is formed by casting in a straight mould having the desired section, the core being withdrawn from the mould while still soft and bent to the desired sinuous form. The core is provided with a central cord 3 attached to a block 2 at its smaller end and projecting at the other and constituting means whereby the core 1 may be withdrawn from the moulded horn &c. 4. Straight terminal portions of the article may be formed by a rigid core 5, Fig. 4, of wood or plaster united to the wax 1 by a dovetail projection 6 ; or such rigid portion may be formed hollow of plaster &c. adapted to be broken away from the finished article.
