Abstract

A two, or more, layered printing paper used for printing tickets 10 and 14 which is stuck together prior to printing by an adhesive which either has a premixed encapsulated substance integral with the adhesive, or a encapsulated substance 12 is sprayed on to either layer of paper with or without the adhesive already applied. The ticket is issued from a machine, or distributed manually. The action of peeling the layers apart 10 to display the ticket on a windscreen or dashboard breaks the surface of the cell lodged in the adhesive containing the substance 18 and releases it into the atmosphere. <IMAGE>

Description

METHOD OF DISPENSING FRAGRANCES THROUGH THE MEDIUM OF TICKETS This invention relates to a paper coating and microencapsulating process to be used, typically in the manufacture of car parking tickets, and to the secondary benefits there from.
Car parking tickets, known as pay and display, barrier and magnetic stripe tickets, are issued by machine as evidence that a fee has been, or will be, paid for car parking space.
These tickets are frequently left in a prominent position on an automobile dash board or stuck to the inside of the wind screen as evidence to car park officials that the car parking space has been, or will be, paid for.
The construction of the ticket is frequently two, or more, layers of paper, one of which is the base paper and is coated with an adhesive, the other is a release paper that covers the base, adhesive coated, paper.
When the ticket has been issued the layers are peeled apart, the adhesive coated paper is then part stuck to the back of the non-coated layer of paper and part stuck to the windscreen of the car and left in a prominent, viewable, from the exterior of the vehicle, position.
According to the present invention micro-encapsulated substances can be pre-mixed with an additional adhesive and sprayed directly on to the base paper, or sprayed directly on to the release paper.
The two layers of paper, base and release, are then stuck together ready for printing.
When the printed tickets are issued from a ticket machine they are peeled apart as previously described.
The act of peeling the two layers apart breaks, or ruptures, the capsule that holds the substance and releases it into the atmosphere.
The micro-encapsulated substance can be a fragrance, perfume, insect deterrent or any other substance that can be micro-encapsulated.
This substance can be a fragrance, typically used as a reminder of a product for advertising or promotional purposes. Similarly when the substance is released in, say, the passenger compartment of a car the car will smell of the fragrance when the driver returns to the car to depart from the parking space.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Fissure 1 A layer of paper used in the printing of double, or more, layer(s) tickets 10, known as the release paper. This layer is stuck to a base paper 14 by a layer of adhesive 20 sprayed, or integrally pre-mixed with an encapsulated substance 12.
Fissure 2 The encapsulated substance is released into the atmosphere 18 by the action of peeling the layers 10 and 14 apart prior to sticking the ticket to, or on, a windscreen or dash board.

Claims (4)

1) A micro-encapsulated fragrance, scent, insect deterrent or any other substance that can be micro-encapsulated to be applied to, or be integral with, the adhesive(s) used in the manufacture of multi-layered ticketing printing paper.
2) A micro-encapsulated substance as claimed in Claim 1 wherein it can be sprayed onto the adhesive surface, or pre-mixed integrally with the adhesive, the release paper bonding two or more layers of paper intended for ticket manufacture.
3) A micro-encapsulated substance as claimed in Claim 1 and Claim 2 that can be applied to the paper(s) in stripes or other configurations.
4) An encapsulation process for the substances as claimed in Claim 1 that are released by the action peeling the layers of paper apart or by rubbing the micro encapsulated surface on a harder surface than the paper(s).
