Abstract

229,613. Richards, A. A. Sept. 25, 1923. Shades, silk.-Lampshades for indoor lighting are made of silk stretched over a wire framework and are of globular form and adapted to enclose completely or almost completely an electric lamp bulb. In the form shown in the Figure, the shade a is secured at c to the holder of an electric lamp bulb b and has four wing-like extensions d. To enable the electric lamp bulb to be removed and replaced, a gauze-like cup g is laced to the lower part of the shade and is surrounded by a fringe f. In a modification, the glass of the electric lamp bulb is closely covered with a knitted silk fabric in the form of a mesh. Specifications 3773/86, 16373/88, 8262/97, and 2598/09 are referred to.
