Description

2294963 IMPROVED STRUCTURE FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF DOORS WITH MOLDINGS
Just as is expressed in the title of this specif ication, the present invention refers to an improved structure for the manufacture of doors with moldings, providing the latter with great consistency, rigidity and hardness, as if it were a solid door. A strong frame is included inside where a rod structure is coupled. Some complementary wooden blocks are coupled half way up for placement of the lock, also serving to f it in the inside frame at its sides.
The moldings consist of some bass-reliefs made upon the door which will not affect at all the expansions and contractions of the different parts that make up the door itself.
Some conventional doors generally consist of an outside frame of noble wood, inside which several superimposed panes of different qualities of wood are coupled depending on the cases. Covering the two surfaces of said door, both outside plywoods are placed and they also consist of noble wood. These doors tend to be too heavy.
On the other hand, it is very normal that a conventional wood door includes moldings of different shapes and type. In some cases the latter are made of noble wood and in other cases they are made out of plastic imitating wood, etc.
These moldings are applied upon the surface itself of the door, either directly forming a projection with regard to the door, or else upon a mortise made for this purpose in one part of the wood that the door includes.
In any case, the moldings in question, that may be in relief or bassrelief, always comprise independent bod i es o r pi eces tha t h ave t o be prev ious 1 y obt a ined, ly, irrespec- which turns out to be complicated and cost, tive of the fact that part of the molding, though it is in bass-relief, must project with regard to the whole surface or laminate of the door itself.
Patent of invention no. 9101601/0 claims a process for the manufacture of doors with moldings foreseen to overcome the above cited problems and whose process has the purpose of making it possible to make a molding in bass-relief according to a conventional door. Said molding consists of a closed groove or mortise, whose groove or mortise is full of noble wood strips, all in accordance with an operative process in which the step in which once the strips have been mounted intervenes, the covering of the surface of the door takes place, by means of noble wood plywood, in order to finally work the molding by means of a pantograph, doing the working through the noble wood plywood and in correspondence with the area where the strip or strips is or are inserted.
By means of this system or process a moldingin bassrelief is achieved without the need to include and fasten the corresponding independent element that is the classic conventional molding, applicable to doors.
The improved structure for the manufacture of doors with moldings, that is the object of the invention, solves to a large degree the problems mentioned in the above section, at the same time that it provides some relevant characteristics with regard to conventional doors, the improved structure of the invention, having a great consistency, rigidity and hardness, as if it were a solid door, the whole of the same being of a relatively low weight.
It is comprised of an outside frame, to which -3 half way up and at the two inside sides some wooden board.-; or blocks are 3oined to fasten the inside frame, at the same time that they serve as areas to locate the door lock, on either side. This inside frame is strong and in it some grates are inserted in order to make the whole structure more solid.
The crossbars of the outside frame, to which the wooden blocks are joined for placement of the lock, have a longitudinal shoulder on both sides of the door, thanks to which some boards or panels which will perfectly sit upon the inside frame, upon the grates, upon the wooden blocks and of course also upon the outside frame will be coupled and inserted, the outside surface of each board remaining level with the outermost areas of both crossbars. Finally, some plywood is included on both sides of the door. Besides the door has a molding consisting of bass-relief advantageously established along the wood section components of the novel inside frame, as an ornament.
on the other hand, in replacement bf the cited inside frame and of the wooden blocks, an inside core consisting of three panes, amiddle one made out of aggbmerate and two end ones made out of noble wood, different from that of the outside frame, has been provided for, in such a way that the groove of the molding is made in those pieces of noble wood, without touching the center core, whereby the contact of the noble wood with the other woods is done longitudinally, minimally affecting the contractions whch wood is normally subjected to.
Hereinafter to provide a better understanding of this specification and forming an integral part thereof a series of figures in which the object of the invention has been represented in an illustrative and nonrestrictive manner, is attached hereto.
Figure I.- It is a raised view of the improved structure of doors with moldings, ob3ect of the invention.
Figure 2.- It is an outside view of a door where mainly the moldings consisting of some bass-reliefs, including the cited door, the improved structure of the invention, are shown.
Figure 3.- It is a sectioned view of a door where one part of the improved structure for the manufacture of doors is seen.
Figure 4.- It is a sectional view of a door portion, which includes an inside core consisting of three panes, a center one and two ends ones of noble wood, in such a way that the groove of the molding is effected in those noble wood pieces.
Figure 5.- It is a view similar to the one of the previous figure, with both surfaces of the door having their respective bass-reliefs.
In the first place making reference to the numbering used in f igures 1, 2 and 3, the improved structure for the manufacture of doors with moldings, is made starting with an outside frame (1), to whose crossbars (2) and (3) about ha way up and inside some wooden blocks (4) and (5) which serve as areas to locate a lock, are joined, on either side, as required. On the other hand, there is an inside frame (6) x usted sideways in said wooden blocks (4) and (6), while vertically it abuts against the top (7) and bottom (8) cross members of the outside frame (1). The inside frame (6) has some horizontal and center (9) and (10) sections slightly displaced downwards, a top one (11) and another bottom one (12), all of them joining by their ends, to some vertical crossbars (13) and (14), which fit sideways between the wooden blocks (4) and (5), while by their ends they remain adjusted to the top (7) and bottom (8) cross members of the outside frame (l.) On the other hand, between the vertical crossbars (13) and ( 14) and the horizontal sections, some reinforcement grates, a top one (15) and a smaller bottom one (16), are installed. Each one of these grates is comprised of a series of boards (17) and (18) vertical and perpendicular to the door, the same are joined respectively to two other transversal ones (19) and (20), the ends of the vertical boards (17) of the top grate abutting against the top (11) and center (9) horizontal sections, while the boards (18) of the bottom grate, abut against the center (10) and the bottom (12) sections.
As is more clearly seen in figure 3, the crossbars (2) and (3) of the outside frame (1) have a shoulder on both sides thereof and all along the same, thus establishing, some boards or panels (21) that cover almost entirely both surfaces of the door and remain abutted upon the inside frame (6), upon the grates (15) and (16), upon the wooden blocks (4) and (5) and also upon the outside frame (1.) Finally, some plywood (22) that encbup visible to the user is abutted upon the outside surfaces of panels (21.) The moldings of the door are comprised of some decorative bass-reliefs (23) and (24) made in the crossbars and sections of the inside frame, just as can be seen in figures 2 and 3.
on the other hand, just as is seen in figures 4 and 5, a second embodiment of the 4nvention has been foreseen, in which neither the inside frame (6) nor the wooden blocks (4) and (5) are included, including in replacement of these pieces, a core formed by three superimposed panels or boards, a center one made of agglomerate or conventional wood, which is reference number (25), and the other two, made out of noble wood, to which reference number (26) corresponds. The core is completed with two other panels or boards (21) of less dense wood, as well as with the corresponding outs ide f rame ( I ') made of noble wood, the outside surface of the latter leveling with the outside surface of the two less dense boards or panels (2l'). The door unit is complemented, as conventionally done, with the corresponding plywood (22'.) Now then, the door in question can have a bass-relief molding (23') worked, either on one surface as seen in figure 4, or else on both surfaces as seen in figure 5, in such a way that the bass-relief (23') is obtained by working, by means of the corresponding suitable system or device, of noble wood boards (26), logically affecting the boards or panels (211) and of course the plywood (22'), thus obtaining a bass- relief molding that does not touch the center core that forms the board (25) of the core, all in such a way that the contact of the noble wood that the boards (26) form with the middle board of the core (25) and of course with the less dense boards (2l'), is done longitudinally, whereby the contractions of the different types of wood will hardly affect the general structure of the door.
This system shown in figures 4 and 5 makes it possible to make the bassrelief on any area of the door that, logically, consists of the above cited boards or panels.
