Abstract

The folder 1 comprises a sheet-like or card-like support which is folded in the middle 2, is provided at its ends facing away from the fold with respective hanging rails 3, and is further provided at a short distance from the hanging rails with respective tear-open connections 5 running parallel thereto, allowing the ends with the hanging rails to be completely removed. Removal of the rails permits use of the folder as a rapid binder. Tear-open tabs 6 with punch holes may be provided. <IMAGE>

Description

Suspension Folder Suspension folders are known comprising a sheet-like or card-like support which is relatively stable and does not easily tear.
The support is folded in the middle and exhibits, at its ends facing away from the fold, respective hanging rails which are joined to the support. Said ends of the support may be configured such that the hanging rails can be slid in and out. The suspension folder can either be openly configured at its sides or provided with a folded edge to receive, in particular, punched loose-leaf and/or single file documents. As a drawback of a suspension folder of this type, it is often considered that the suspension folder can only be used in a so-called "suspension filing cabinet". Even following the removal of the hanging rails, a suspension folder of this kind is not otherwise used, since the end regions for receiving the hanging rails are regarded as a nuisance.
The object of the invention is therefore to improve such a previously known suspension folder.
According to the present invention, a suspension folder comprises a sheet-like or card-like support which is folded in the middle, is provided at its ends facing away from the fold with respective hanging rails, and is further provided at a short distance from the hanging rails with respective tear-open connections running parallel thereto.
In such a suspension folder, it is possible to separate the end regions receiving the hanging rails by tearing along the tear-open connections and then use the suspension folder as a rapid binder or the like.
Preferably, at least one filing punch-hole is provided in the region of the fold, and the at least one filing punch-hole is configured in at least one tab which can be unfolded via at least one additional tear-open connection.
In one arrangement, the tear-open connections and, if present, the at least one additional tear-open connection are formed by rows of perforations.
In another arrangement, the tear-open connections and, if present, the at least one additional tear-open connection are formed by rows of slits.
Preferably, the support is formed from a fibrous structured synthetic film consisting of olefin threads which had been sprayed onto a surface and deformed under pressure and temperature.
The invention is explained in greater detail below with reference to an illustrative embodiment thereof represented in a drawing.
In the drawing there is shown a suspension folder 1 for a suspension filing cabinet, which suspension folder is produced from a planar support and is provided with a middle fold 2.
The planar support comprises a fibrous, structured synthetic film, which is formed from olefin threads. For the production of this synthetic film, very thin olefin fibres are firstly spun via nozzles and sprayed irregularly onto a surface. By the sole use of pressure and temperature, i.e. without adhesive or the like, these sprayed-on synthetic or olefin threads are then moulded into a film of fibrous structure. A support which is configured in this way, and hence the suspension folder 1, is relatively tear-proof, i.e. it can be frequently folded at will and also improperly treated, without any tears resulting. Moreover, a suspension folder which is made from such a support is dimensionally stable. The wall thickness of such a synthetic film is considerably less, however, than that of soda card, so that a suspension folder of this kind requires significantly less space. Moreover, a suspension folder which is configured in this way has a relatively low weight.
At its ends facing away from the fold 2, the suspension folder 1 is provided with respective hanging rails 3. In the illustrated embodiment, there is provided at each of said ends an edge region 4 which is closed in the longitudinal direction of the hanging rail 3 by either a pasted seam or a weld seam and is thus able to receive the hanging rail 3. It is alternatively possible to provide each edge region 4 on its inner wall with a layer of contact adhesive, by which the hanging rail 3 is joined to the suspension folder 1.
At a short distance from each of the hanging rails 3, running parallel thereto or parallel to the free edges of the suspension folder 1, there is a tear-open connection 5, which is formed either by incisions or perforations or by mutually spaced long-holes or slits. Because of the material used in the illustrated embodiment for the suspension folder 1, the distance of the perforations or slits from one another and from the margin should be no greater, where possible, than about 1.0 mm. Only then is it possible, according to requirement, to separate or tear off the edge regions 4 receiving the hanging rails 3, along the tear-open connections 5, from the other part of the suspension folder 1.The suspension folder 1 can then, for example, be used as a rapid binder or the like, although it is necessary in such a case for there to be provided in the suspension folder 1, in the region of the fold 2, a filing mechanism which is known per se.
In order to be able to file such a suspension folder 1, in this case used as a rapid binder, itself in a file for example, there are provided in the region of the fold 2 two mutually spaced tabs 6, which are initially connected to the other part of the suspension folder 1 via additional tear-open connections 7. In each tab 6 there is provided a filing punch-hole 8. Here, too, the tear-open connections 7 can be formed by incisions or long-holes, perforations or slits, preferably separated by less than 1.0 mm. It is thereby possible to tear the tabs 6 in such a way that they remain connected to the suspension folder 1 only via a narrow web. The tabs 6 can then be folded into the position shown in dashed representation in the drawing, so that the suspension folder 1, employed as a rapid binder, can now itself be filed in a file or the like. According to requirement, the filing punch-hole for the suspension folder 1 can also be differently configured.
