Abstract

228,984. Jones, H. C., and Inwards, E. D. Nov. 12, 1923. Mouldings. - A picture rail provided with a hook-retaining groove in its rear face has the upper portion a<1> overhanging the lower portion a<3>, so that the latter is spaced from the wall to allow insertion of the hook from below. The groove may be obliquely arranged, or shaped otherwise than as shown, and the rail may be constructed of two or more pieces. In a modification, the rear face may be flush and clearance. between the rail and wall obtained by a packing- out strip or blocks, or gaps may be formed in the lower portion of the rail through which the hooks may be inserted. In a further modification, the upper portion may be set back from the lower portion. The rail may be in the form of a plaque rail or cornice moulding.
