Abstract

228,934. Reiniger, Gebbert, &. Schall Akt.-Ges., (Assignees of Maurer, J., and Jakobsen, H. F.). Feb. 7, 1924, [Convention date]. Dental instruments. -An instrument for use in stopping teeth with metal comprises two conducting pluggers connected to the. two terminals of a source of electricity, so that during the usual tamping operation the particles of metal filling are simultaneously sintered and welded by the sparks or arc formed between the two points. The instrument comprises two segmental pluggers 9, 9<1> separated, except at their points 17, 17<1>, by insulating material 10 and held in an insulating sleeve 5 within the handle 2 by an insulating union nut 12 engaging a composite flange 11 on the members 9, 9<1>, 10. A conical insulating nut 15 grips the pluggers 9, 9<1> at its tip 16 so as to prevent spreading or contact of the plugger points 17, 17'. The electric leads 3, 3<1> are connected to contacts 7, 7<1> in the sleeve 5, or may be connected to the pluggers 9, 9' by screws situated in the sleeve 5 below the union nut 12 so that they may be operated through openings in the handle 2 without dismantling the instrument.
