Description
T H E S K A T E C A T This invention relates to a twin bladed ice skate.
Mono-bladed ice skates are well known and are used both as a leisure activity and also hy professional ice skater/dancers.
The twin bladed ice skate provides balance on a single boot; it is therefore ideally suited to children and learners, or simply for pleasure skaters.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1.. slows in perspective, the twin skate attached to a skating boot. The blades are of metal, and are thinner than a mono-blade (strength not being as necessary, and reducing friction on the ice).
Figure 2. illustrates the separation of the twin skate from the skating boot, where the twin skate is one unit (A). The connecting plate (B), can he of variahle width; wider for novice skaters, narrower gauge for the nore proficient.
Figure 3. illustrates the twin skate as set in a purpose built boot, where two individual, replaceable skate blades are set in a plastic/rubber moulded support which runs the length of the sole of the skating hoot.
Claims (4)
1. A dual or twin bladed ice skate, similar in composition to the standard mono-bladed ice skate. The dimensions of the blades and the gauge between the two blades is to he variable to suit the individual, or to allow for ice skating trends.
2. A dual or twin bladed ice skate as claimed in claim 1, wherein the twin blades are detachable and are attached hy means of studs, screws, rivets, or similar locating device through a haseplate.
3. A dual or twin bladed ice skate as claimed in claim 1, wherein the blades are separately detachable and are located by means of a purpose made ice skating boot.
4. A dual or twin bladed ice skate substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-3 of the accompanying drawing.
