Abstract

The system comprises a transmitter that is operated immediately its allied alarm system is activated, sending a specific signal to the counterpart personal receiver enabling absent vehicle or premises owners to be made aware that their vehicle or property alarm has been activated by accident or possible illegal entry.

Description

ALARM MONITOR SYSTEM I, Alan Albert Hillier of 14 Roseacres, Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire do hereby declare the invention for which I request that a patent be granted to me and the method by which it is performed to be particularly described in and by the following statement This invention relates to an Alarm Monitor System comprising transmitter and receiver enabling absent vehicle owners/drivers or absent property/premises owners to be made aware that their alarm system has been activated either by accident or because the vehicle/premises are the subject of possible illegal entry.
The transmitter is installed in the vehicle or premises and is designed on activation of the allied alarm to send a particular signal to the monitor immediately the alarm is operated. The transmitter can be installed separately, can be an integral part of an alarm system and in the case of a vehicle, can be part of the ignition or telephone system.
Power is from the car battery with independent batterv back up, or mains and separate battery back up for premises.
The monitor/receiver can be worn as 3 normal paging device, retained in the pocket or manufactured in the style of a wristwatch and worn accordingly. The monitor is activated by a signal from the transmitter to which it is tuned and when activate can give an audible or visual or vibratory warning or any combination of these making the absent owner aware that his alarm system has been activated. The owner can then return to his vehicle or property or advise the police.
Power is by battery.
Due to limitations in the present alarm system where absent owners of vehicles/premises are not aware when their alarm has been activated, it was felt approriate to design a system which remedied this. At present many vehicles are broken into whilst their owners are in close proximity but outside hearing range of their alarm. nn activation of the receiver the vehicle can be attended quickly which removes anxiety especially where high value private and commercial vehicles and property are involved. This is alse particularly advantageous since many members of the public take little or no notice of activated car or premises alarms.
Indeed, when a vehicle is parked adjacent to many others even owners are not aware that their alarm has been activated.
The new system overcomes this and eliminates unnecessary visits to the vehicle which is especially advantageous at night. The new system is also designed to cover proposed new legislation regarding noise related nuisance where it is likely that Police or Environmental Health Officers will be allowed to enter property or have vehicles towed away. With regard to premises alarms, these need not be in operation for many hours, especially at night whilst Police attempt to contact absent keyholders who will have their on monitors.
The alarm monitor system is readily adaptable for all types of private and commercial vehicles and premises and will be an attractive orooosition to insurance companies since it involves additional security of high value assets.

Claims (15)

1. An alarm monitor system comprising a transmitter and receiver where the transmitter is installed in vehicle or premises and is activated immediately the vehicle or premises alarm operates sending a signal to a tuned in receiver enabling absent owners/drivers to be made aware that their vehicle or premises alarm has been activated either by accident or because of other reasons.
2. An alarm monitor system as claimed in Claim 1 where the transmitter is activated immediately the alarm operates.
3. An alarm monitor system as claimed in Claim 1 where the monitor is activated by a signal from the transmitter as soon as the alarm operates.
4. An alarm monitor system as claimed in Claim 1 where the monitor will respond to the transmitted signal by emitting an audible, visual or vibratcry warning or any combination of these.
5. An alarm monitor system as claimed in Claim 1 where the transmitted signal may be of any wavelength including UHF, VHF. Shortwave, Microwave or any cther appropriate frequency and where appropriate incorporating pulse systems will allow many millions of combinations of signals to activate the monitor and even allow for random encrypted cos.
6. An alarm monitor system as claimed in Claim 1 which is suitable for use in private and commercial vehicles.
7. 9n alarm monitor system as claimed in Claim l which is suitable for use in both private and commercial premises.
8. An alarm monitor system which is readily adaptable for use with present lager and in-car telephone systems.
9. An alarm monitor system which can be used over any practical distance.
10. An alarm monitor system where the monitor is tuned only to its counteroart transmitter.
11. An alarm monitor system where the receiver is easily carried or concealed.
12. An alarm monitor system where the transmitted signal is able to be monitored by a central agency or tracked.
13. An alarm monitor system where both transmitter and receiver can be reset.
14. An alarm monitor system where once activated the monitor will, if required, continue its warning until reset.
15. An alarm monitor system where the activation of the transmitter by the alarm is via electronic or a particular frequency of transmission or light xiave or infra re signal or via cable connection.
