Abstract

A system that informs the holder/carrier of the appropriate receiver that their vehicle security system has been activated. This is achieved by strategically placed sensors (or similar devices) which may be on doors, windows, bonnet, boot lid, ignition, steering column, wheels activating the vehicle-based remote alert transmitter. This transmits a signal to the remote receiver. The remote receiver receives the above signal and activates whatever 'communication to holder' method/s is/are contained within its housing. These 'communication to holder' methods are one of/or a combination of the following - noise,light,movement,read-out.

Description

2341472 Remote alert system of alarm activation This invention relates to
informing the owner/user of a motor vehicle that the vehicle protection system has been invaded and that the vehicle alarm system has been activated. The vehicle owner/user will be made aware of this fact although they may be away from the immediate vicinity of the vehicle.
There are already standard vehicle alarm systems which,When activatedoperate the vehicle hornlights, etc.but one must be in the vicinity of the vehicle for this alarm system to be noticed.
And that is exactly what the current vehicle alarm systems are, they are 'vehicle vicinity'alert systems. Vehicle users who are not in the vicinity of their vehicles at the time of normal vehicle alarm system activation and subsequent operation (in most cases activation and operation will be simultaneous) are not alerted to the fact that their vehicle protection system has been tampered with. The general public tend to ignore the sight and sound of vehicle alarms (and in many cases do not take it as a warning but as an annoyance) which means that unless the vehicle user is made aware of the situation then no deterrent effect has been achieved.
This system will alert the system remote receiver holder to the fact that the vehicle alarm system to which it is linked has been activatediffespective of whether the vehicle alarm itself (soundlights, etc.) operates at the point of alarm system activation (but see installation modes).
This vehicle alarm alert will be communicated to the remote receiver holder by one or more of the following methods - a) Noise (ie. bleeping) b) Light/s (ie. flashing or constant) c) Movement (ie. vibration) d) Visible message (ie. screenedcoded or plainflashing or constant) The basis of this system is that the activation of the vehicle alarm system triggers the remote warning system vehicle based transmitter which sends a signal to the remote receiver. The signal is individually tailored to that specific vehicle. The remote alert receiver then operates the 'communication to holder methods.
The vehicle based remote warning system transmitter will be in 4 installation modes i) Integral with the vehicle alarm system (Diagram 1) ii) An add-on to the vehicle alarm system (Diagram 2) iii) Separate to the vehicle alarm system using the same power source (Diagrai-3) iv) Separate to the vehicle alarm system using its own power source(Diagram 4).
In installation modes iii) and iv) the remote warning system circuitry will have its own trigger sensors.
The remote receiver's 'communication to holder methods will be contained within the remote receiver's housing, possibly something like a key-fob. But if the remote receiver housing also contains the vehicle remote central locking system then that will be separate from, and operate independently ofthe remote alert warning system.
The receiver housing will also contain a Cancel button/device of which there will be 2 types - I. The Cancel button will stop all current "communication to holder"operations and not restart until there has been a break in mission 2.The Cancel button will stop all audible 'communication to holder operations but non-audible will remain operating This then is the Remote Alert System of Alarm Activation from initial invasion of the vehicle protection system (locked doors, windows, etc.) to the cancellation of the remote alert receiver operation.
0 p Remote alert system of alarm activation On page 2 of this Annexe are diagrams of the remote alert system vehicle based transmitter (RASVBT) installations. These are in accordance with the installation mode explanations as listed on page 1 of the system general description.
These descriptions are repeated here for ease of reference.
Diagram 1. The RASVBT is integral with the vehicle alarm system Diagram 2 The RASVBT is an'add-od to the vehicle alarm system (as in the case of being fitted at a time after the initial vehicle assembly) Diagram 3 The RASVBT is separate to the vehicle alarm system but uses the same power source Diagram 4 The RASM is separate to the vehicle alarm system and uses its own separate power source The abbreviations for the diagrams on page 2 of this annexe are as follows - PS = power source VAS vehicle alarm system RST remote system transmitter RR = remote receiver

Claims (1)

  1. A warning device for indicating that a vehicle security system has been activated, characterised in that said warning device is physically separate from said security system and comprises a receiver adapted to receive a signal emitted by aforesaid vehicle security system, said receiver being connected to audible and/or visible andlor physical warning devices such that reception of said signal by the receiver activates the warning device/s.
