Ornamenting. - Transparent or semitransparent articles made of celluloid, cellulose acetate, viscose, copal, condensed resins, gelatine, casein, &c., are decorated by incorporating in the mass under pressure and heat, natural or artificial objects such as silk, lace, embroidery, fabrics, paper, flowers, leaves, seeds, feathers, insects' wings, &c., The article may be composed of layers of variously coloured materials, and may include pearl essence, and by varying the pressure of moulding over a surface, or by etching the surface a mottled, marbled, &c. effect may be produced.
