Description

A CHAIR The present invention relates to a novel form of chair.
In the past chairs have been constructed with a seat, with one or more legs for supporting the seat at an elevated height, a back rest and possibly two arms. This chair is ideally suited for one person, but is not so ideally suited for two people.
If a man and woman wish to have intimate relations on a known chair they face the problem that the woman once astride the man will be unsupported since there is no back supporting section for supporting her back once she is sitting astride the man, facing the man. This makes the act of coition difficult and uncomfortable.
The present invention provides a chair comprising: a seat, support means for supporting the seat in an elevated position, a first back rest, and a second back rest, wherein the first and second back rests are arranged facing each other to respectively support the back of a first user seated on the seat and the back of a second user sitting astride the first user.
Preferably the support means comprises at least one chair leg rigidly attached to the seat.
Preferably the seat is of a shape and/or size which allows a user to sit straddling the seat.
Preferably the seat is of a shape and/or size which allows both first and second users to sit straddling the seat.
Preferably the first and second back rests alone extend upwardly from the seat.
Preferably the chair comprises additionally a table connected to the remainder of the chair. The table is preferably mounted on an arm which is connected to one of the back rests.
In a first preferred embodiment of chair one of the back rests is hingedly connected to the remainder of the chair.
In a second preferred embodiment of chair the first and second back rests are each hingedly connected to the remainder of the chair.
In a third preferred embodiment of chair the second back rest is detachable from the remainder of the chair. In this embodiment the seat preferably comprises mounting means which allows the second back rest to be removably connected to the remainder of the chair.
In a fourth preferred embodiment the seat is movable relative to the support means and means is provided to vibrate the seat. Preferably the means to vibrate the seat includes a motor controllable by a user of the chair. Preferably the motor is connected to a cam which engages a portion of the seat, the motor being operable to rotate the cam and the cam vibrating the seat on rotation.
Preferably the seat has a first portion for seating the first user and a second portion raised with respect to the first portion for seating the second user.
The present invention in a second aspect relates to use of a chair previously described to facilitate coition.
Preferred embodiments of the present invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which; Figure 1 is a side elevation of a first embodiment of chair according to the present invention, Figure 2 is a front elevation of the first embodiment of chair shown in figure 1 (the rear elevation corresponds), Figure 3 is a perspective view of the first embodiment of chair of figures 1 and 2, Figure 4 is a side elevation view of a second embodiment of chair according to the invention, Figure 5 is a side elevation view of a third embodiment of chair according to the invention, Figure 6 is a side elevation view of a fourth embodiment of chair according to the present invention.
Figure 7 is a perspective view of a fifth embodiment of chair according to the present invention.
Figure 8 is a part cross-section view of a sixth embodiment of chair according to the present invention.
Referring first to figure 1 it can be seen that the chair comprises four legs, two of which are shown at 10 and 11 and two of which are not shown. The chair has a seat 12 which is shaped or dimensioned such that a user of the chair can straddle the chair, with one leg on either side of the seat 12.
A first back rest 13 is provided for supporting the back of a first user of the chair and a second back rest 14 is provided for supporting the back of a second user of the chair. The two back rests 13 and 14 are disposed opposite each other, with the back rest support cushions 15 and 16 facing each other.
The chair shown in figure 1 facilitates coition, since a man can sit on the seat 12 with his back supported by the back rest 13 and then a woman can sit facing the man, astride the man, with her back also supported, her back being supported by the back rest 14.
The chair as shown in figures 1, 2 and 3 could be modified as shown in figure 4 by the provision of a small side table 20 attached to the chair. The side table is positioned such that both users of the chair can still sit astride the seat portion 12. The side table could be used to accomodate drinks, cigarettes or other items.
The chair of the invention could be made with an adjustable back rest or with two adjustable back rests.A chair with one adjustable back rest is shown in figure 5. In figure 5 the back rest 14 is tiltable about a hinge 30 and can be kept in position by means of a mechanical clamp 31. Thus the back rest 14 can be tilted to a position of maximum comfort.
Similarly, the back rest 13 could also be tiltable.
In figure 6 there is shown a modification of the chair in which the seat falls in two distinct portions 12A and 12B. The portion 12A is raised with respect to portion 12B, so that in use a woman sitting astride a man can be supported at least partially by the seat portion 12A.
In figure 7 there is shown a chair which can be converted from an ordinary chair to a chair according to the invention. The chair has a back rest 13, a seat 12 and legs 10 and 11 as in the previously described chairs, but the back rest 14 is not permanently connected to the chair. Instead the back rest 14 has struts 40 and 41 which can be located in tubular mounting members 42 and 43 provided on the chair. The tubular members 42 and 43 could be covered up by removable end caps when the removable back rest 14 is not secured to the chair. The end caps could then be removed to allow the struts 40 and 41 to be slotted in the tubular mounting portions 42 and 43 so that the chair is converted from a chair having one back rest to a chair having two back rests. In this way, a chair is provided which can be used normally or can be used according to the invention to assist the act of coition in a seated position.
In figure 8 there can be seen a chair which comprises an electric motor 50 disposed beneath the seat 12. The seat 12 has a rigid underside 51 which is hingedly attached along one side to the remainder of the chair frame by a hinge 52. The motor 50 is connected by a transmission linkage 54 to a cam 53 which directly abuts a portion of the rigid underside 51 of seat 12. The motor can be switched on and off by a user. The motor when running rotates the cam 53 and the camming action of the cam 53 rocks the seat 12 back and forth about the hinge 52. The motor 50 and cam 53 thus can act to vibrate the seat 12.
It should be appreciated that a chair according to the invention could be made in a myriad of different styles with any number of legs or with other means for supporting the seat in an elevated position, like ordinary chairs for one person. Any materials could be used to make the chair of the invention, for instance, plastic, wood or metal.
Also whilst the seat portion of the chair is preferably configured for reasons of comfort such that a user can sit straddling the chair, it is envisaged that instead at least one chair back could be arranged such that there is a gap between the portion of the back rest which in use supports a user and the seat of the chair, the gap enabling a user to pass his or her legs through the gap with his or her legs extending forwardly rather than straddling the seat portion.
