Abstract
An inflatable rocking chair comprises an inflatable seat (10) and a frame (20). The seat (10) has a holding portion (12) and a sitting portion (11). The frame (20) is formed from a plurality of tubes, including two connecting tubes (21) which form a horizontal part of the frame (20) for the chair extending through the body of the inflatable seat Two sets of arch-shaped tubes (26, 27, 28) contact the ground to provide the rocking motion of the chair. Two U-shaped tubes (24) are used to connect with the connecting tubes and the arch-shaped tubes (26, 27, 28) so as to link the frame (20) and the inflatable seat (10) as one unit. The frame (20) of the inflatable chair is detachable. <IMAGE>
Description
AN INFLATABLE ROCKING CHAIR
The present invention relates to an easily constructable and inflatable rocking chair, in particular to a new chair frame and chair which is inflatable and can be detached into several parts. The rocking chair can be easily made up or taken apart for storage.
Conventionally, most of the rocking chairs available are made into shapes of animals to be played with by children, or are made for leisure purposes in the home. However, since the bottom or base of the chair is made arch-shaped, the rocking chair occupies a large space which is unsuitable for houses having limited leisure space.
Another drawback of the conventional rocking chair is that these rocking chairs cannot be taken apart. As a result, the rocking chairs are not portable for use outdoors. It is also troublesome for the manufacturers to pack and transport the chairs. As a result, in marketing the product, extra cost is involved and the product is easily damaged.
If the parts of the chair were designed to be easily combinable or detachable from each other, the packaging for the chair will occupy less space. As a result, the above drawbacks could be overcome. Furthermore, the chair would be portable and could be used for outdoor activities. Thus, the rocking chair in accordance with the present invention if practical and can be economical to make.
The present invention seeks to provide an inflatable rocking chair, wherein the chair body can be inflated with air. In a broad aspect the present invention provides a rocking chair having an inflatable chair body and a detachable frame body. In embodiments of the invention the chair body includes a holding portion and a sitting pad portion and the frame is formed from a plurality of tubes. Two horizontal tubes are used for mounting horizontally across the chair body and two arch-shaped tubes are mounted substantially parallel at the bottom of the chair body for providing the rocking motion. Two inverted U-shaped tubes are connected to the arch-shaped tube to form a unit together with the chair body.
The present invention also seeks to provide an inflatable rocking chair, wherein the shape of the chair body can be designed with various types of animal shapes, or the shapes of furniture.
Embodiments of the present invention also seek to provide an inflatable rocking chair, having the parts which are simple in construction to facilitate detaching them from each other and combining them with each other.
Embodiments of the present invention will now be described in more detail, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is the perspective view of an example inflatable rocking chair in accordance with the present invention;
Fig. 2 is an exploded view of parts of the rocking chair shown in Fig. 1; and
Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the above rocking chair.
Referring to Fig. 1, there is shown a combinative and detachable rocking chair 10 comprising an inflatable chair body and a frame body 20.
The chair body 10 is inflatable and comprises a sitting pad 11 and a hand grip or holding portion 12. At the lower lateral edge of the sitting pad 11, hole 13 and a valve 14 are provided for releasing air from the body and for filling the same with air.
The frame body 20 is formed from a plurality of tubes, comprising two connecting tubes 21, two PVC tubular holders 22, two U-shaped tubes 24, four manifold tubes 25 and two sets of six arch-shaped tubes 26, 27, and 28.
The outside of the connecting tubes 21 are mounted on the PVC holders 22 and can be mounted horizontally within the hole 13 provided in the chair body 10. The arch-shaped tubes 26, 27, 28 are respectively mounted by the manifold 25 and screws 29 to form the arch-shaped structure of the chair body 10 for rocking the chair. The two U-shaped tubes 24 are provided at the two lateral edges of the chair body 10. The two ends of the U-shaped tubes 24 are connected by the manifold tube 25 and the upper end sections are connected to the connecting tube 21 by screws 23 to form the frame body 20 which connected with the chair body 10 as one unit.
Once the rocking chair is formed, the user can sit on sitting pad 11 and the hands of the user are placed on the holding portion 12 for effecting the rocking movement. When the parts of the rocking chair are to be taken apart, the screws 23, 29 are loosened, the valve 14 is operated to release the inflated air so that the chair body 10 is reduced to a small volume. Thus, in this form the rocking chair will not occupy a large space.
Different animal shapes of chair body 10 can be used on the structure of the rocking chair, or the structure can be made for users having a large body. According to the present invention, the structure can easily be made up and taken apart for storage.
It will be appreciated that it is possible to introduce changes of form, material, and arrangement to the invention as a whole and its component parts without departing from the framework of the invention.
