Description
Hairdressina device
The object of the invention is to provide a hairdressing device which can be introduced at any point in the lock of hair, and can be withdrawn without deforming the work performed, since it is withdrawn axially.
A hairdressing device according to the invention, consisting of a series of long teeth disposed in a crown, and of which one end is free, whereas the other end is integral with a shaft, is characterised in that the teeth are made of steel wire folded into a U-shape in the form of a hair pin, the ends of the U being integral with the shaft.
Also according to the invention, in the centre of the teeth of a hairdressing device, there is provided a core which ends in the form of a nose and is provided with air inlets and/or deflectors.
Additionally according to the invention the hairdressing device is provided with a source of heat.
The invention will now be described in greater detail with reference to the attached drawings provided purely by way of example, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a hairdressing device according to the invention;
Figure 2 is a view similar to that in Figure 1, two double teeth having been removed in order to show clearly the core which ends in the form of a nose;
Figure 3 is a profile view of a double tooth before being inserted into the shaft;
Figure 4 is a front view of the teeth assembly, in an alterative arrangement;
Figure 5 is a view similar to that in Figure 4, in a variant arrangement of the teeth;
Figures 6 to 8 are schematic views of a hairdressing device according to the invention provided with additional devices; and
Figure 9 is a hairdressing device according to the invention which forms a curler.
As can be seen in the drawings, and in particular in Figures 1 and 2, the hairdressing device consists of long teeth 1 disposed in a crown, of which one end 1' is integral with a shaft 2, the other end 1" remaining free to enter axially a lock of hair.
According to the invention the teeth 1 are made of steel wire folded into a U-shape, in the form of a hair pin. The two ends 1' of the U are inserted in the shaft 2, the free end 1" being rounded.
It will be appreciated that the teeth can have any appropriate shape and can be cylindrical or conical, or can have a round, oval, square, rectangular, full or hollow cross-section.
The assembly of the teeth 1 and the shaft 2 can be made in a single piece, or can be connected together.
The assembly of the teeth 1 and shaft 2 can have any appropriate shape, such as cylindrical, conical or convex, and any appropriate crosssection, such as round, oval, triangular, semicircular etc. In particular, areas other than toothed areas can be integrated in its surface.
The shaft 2 extends rearwards in the form of a handle, so that the device can be handled.
A core 4 which ends in the form of a nose 5 is provided in the centre of the teeth 1 in order to guide the lock of hair and/or to enable heat to be provided by means of air inlets and/or deflectors 6.
When the teeth 1 have penetrated a lock of hair and rotational movement has been imparted to the assembly, the combination of the limited gap between the teeth, the rough surface condition of the latter, and optionally the presence of a central core which directs or maintains the hair against the inner wall of the sleeve formed by the teeth, entrains the hair slightly. Owing to the flexibility of the teeth, this entraining movement of the hair draws some teeth closer together, which increases further the gripping and entraining of the hair, the maximum entraining effect being obtained when a complete curl has been formed. The entire process of handling and entraining of the hair can easily be improved if the user's fingers are applied to the exterior of the lock of hair being wound (or starting to be wound) so as to start the process.
On the other hand slight rotation in the opposite direction eliminates the clamping and entraining of the hair. The tool can thus be withdrawn axially without deforming the curl which has just been formed.
Additionally, if the device is inserted into the hair and lateral translation movement is applied, the hair will be straightened.
Shaping can be achieved by means of a combination of rotation and translation movements. The device can be put into use at the tip, in the middle or at the roots of the hair.
Several types of movements can be combined or applied in succession to a single lock of hair. By means of its teeth the device can even act as a comb, and in a few strokes the lock of hair can be untangled before it is shaped.
All these shaping operations can be reinforced by the action of heat obtained from an external source (salon-type drying hood, hand-held hairdryer etc.), or frpm the device itself: - hot air distributed between or in the teeth 1 and inside the lock of hair through a central core 4, owing to an hot air generator disposed in the handle 3; - heated core 4 which heats the lock of hair by convection; - core 4 which disperses heat in the lock of hair by infra-red radiation created by electricity or catalytic-action gas; - heat from the base ring or shaft 2 which is propagated by conduction in the teeth; - or any other system which reinforces the action of the device (heating, cooling, hydration, dehydration effects, etc.)
A hairdressing device according to the invention can have some additional devices in order to improve the said device further still.
Thus, the teeth can have an alternative arrangement (Figure 4), or an inclined arrangement (Figure 5) of the turbine blade type, optionally with a device which permits the inclination to be varied by rotation of the teeth about their axis.
Figure 6 shows the device provided with rods 7 which slide into the handle 3 and pass through the interior (or optionally through the exterior) of the sleeve formed by the teeth 1, thus reinforcing the entraining of the hair.
The device can advantageously be provided with a second toothed sleeve inside or outside the first sleeve of teeth 1, rotation of one relative to the other increasing the grip on the hair.
In order to facilitate or accelerate release of the hair, Figure 7 shows the hairdressing device with a sliding plate 8 disposed on the teeth in order to facilitate or accelerate release of the hair.
The hairdressing device can advantageously be provided with a device which varies the diameter of the sleeve formed by the teeth.
Figure 8 shows a hairdressing device provided with a mechanism 9 which either enables the tip of the teeth 1 to be drawn together, in order to form a frusto-conical shape which tapers towards the front, or the teeth to be opened out into a fan shape.
The above-described additional devices are advantageously provided with spring or other mechanisms which enable them to be set, and their movement subsequently to be triggered by activation of a retention catch.
A hairdressing device according to the invention can constitute an accessory to be fitted to a heating or blowing brush.
A hairdressing device according to the invention can also constitute a curler (Figure 9), the latter consisting of teeth 1 integral on only one of their ends with a shaft 2, which in this case is in the shape of a collar or ring, and the sleeve of teeth may or may not be provided with a central core 4.
This core can advantageously accommodate a telescopic or other component in order to maintain the curler in position after the curler has been wound, and/ or to constitute a thermal mass in the case of heating curlers.
