Description

TU-DOOR THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A DECORATIVE SKIN FOR GARAGE DOORS.
GARAGE DOORS ARE WELL KNOWN IN INDUSTRY AS BEING MADE FROM THREE TYPES OF MATERIALS,PRESSED GALVANISED STEEL HARDWOOD AND GRP FIBERGLASS.ALL OF WHICH ARE USED AS REPLACEMENT OR NEW GARAGE DOORS.
THERE IS A SPECIAL TYPE OF DECORATIVE SKIN REFERRED TO AS A TU-DOOR WHICH FITS DIRECTLY OVER THE FACE SIDE OF AN EXISTING DAMAGED OR CORRODED DOOR.ACHIEVING A NEW EFFECT AS REQUIRED.
GARAGE DOORS DO VARY IN COST BUT ARE STILL RELATIVLY EXPENSIVE AND ARE GENRALLY A BURDEN TO INSTALL WHICH WOULD INCLUDE DISPOSAL OF THE OLD DOOR.
THIS IS MAINLY DUE TO THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS AND THE RELAVANT TECHNICAL INFORMATION REQUIRED TO INSTALL THE DOORS CORRECTLY.
ACCORDING TO THE PRESENT INVENTION THERE IS PROVIDED A SKIN OF DECORATIVE DESIGN ADAPTED SUCH THAT THE SKIN CAN BE RELEASABLY SECURED TO EXISTING GARAGE DOORS BY MEANS OF POP-RIVITS AROUND THE FOUR OUTSIDE EDGES THUS LEAVING A DESIRABLE DECORATIVE FINISH TO THE EXISTING DOORS.
A SPECIFIC EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION WILL NOW BE DESCRIBED BY WAY OF AN EXAMPLE WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWING IN WHICH: FIG 1: SHOWS THE EXISTING GARAGE DOOR.
FIG 2: SHOWS THE SKIN TO BE FITTED.
FIG 3: SHOWS THE SKIN FITTED INTO POSITION.
FIG 4: SHOWS A TYPICAL DOOR HANDLE ARRANGMENT REFFERING TO THE DRAWING THE SKIN COMPRISES OF A HIGH QUALITY MANUFACTURED FINISH AMOUNTING TO APPROX 1/8TH INCH THICK,GIVING THE REQUIRED STRENGTH FIG:-2.
IN ORDER TO FIT THE SKIN TO THE EXISTING GARAGE DOOR SIMPLY REMOVE THE LOCKING HANDLE BY UN-DOING THE FIXING SCREWS ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR FIG:-4.
FIT THE SKIN FIG:-2 OVER THE EXISTING DOOR FIG:-1 PRESSING FIRMLY INTO POSITION AND FIX IN THREE OR FOUR POSITIONS ON EACH OF THE EDGES AS SHOWN IN FIG:-3.
FIXING CAN BE BY MEANS OF THE CORRECT SIZE POP RIVIT OR SCREW.THE LOCKING HANDLE IS NOW REPLACED INTO POSITION BY DRILLING THE CORRECT SIZE HOLES THROUGH THE FACE SIDE OF BOTH THE SKIN AND THE DOOR TO WHICH THE SKIN HAS BEEN FITTED.
BRACKETS FOR THE LOCKING RODS MAY NEED RE-LOCATING IF THE HANDLE IS MOVED OR RELOCATED SEE FIG:-4.
DRAWING THIS DRAWING SHOWS AN EXPLODED VIEW OF A GARAGE DOOR BEFORE AND AFTER THE FITTING OF THE TU-DOOR.
SIZES OF THE TU-DOOR WILL VARY SO THEIR ARE NO TRUE DIMENTIONS SHOWN LIKWISE THE DESIGN WILL VARY AND THE DESIGN SHOWN IS PURLEY ASTHETIC THIS DRAWING HAS BEEN ALLOCATED DRAWING NUMBER: T/D 001A

Claims (1)

  1. CLAIMS 1/ A DECORATIVE SKIN COMPRISING OF A MANUFACTURED COVER APPROXIMATLY 1/8TH INCH THICK,MEANS FOR RELEASABLY SECURING THE SKIN TO AN EXISTING GARAGE DOOR BY USE OF A SERIES OF POP-RIVITS OR OTHER SUITABLE FIXINGS AROUND EACH OF THE FOUR EDGES.
    2/ A DECORATIVE SKIN AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1 WHEREIN THE ENGINEERED PHISICAL SIZE OF THE SKIN WILL BE SUCH THAT ONCE THE LOCKING HANDLE ON THE FACE OF THE EXISTING DOOR HAS BEEN REMOVED THE SKIN WILL FIT DIRECTLY OVER THE EXISTING DOOR.
    3/ A DECORATIVE SKIN AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1 OR CLAIM 2 WHEREIN THE DECORATIVE SKIN WOULD COVER THE WHOLE OF THE EXISTING DOOR INCLUDING THE FOUR EDGES.
    4/ A DECORATIVE SKIN AS CLAIMED IN ANY PROCEEDING CLAIM WHEREIN THE DECORATIVE SKIN WOULD BE DURABLE,STRONG AND REQUIRE MINIMAL MAINTAINANCE.
    5/ A DECORATIVE SKIN AS CLAIMED IN ANY PROCEEDING CLAIM WHEREIN THE DECORATIVE SKIN WOULD BE PROVIDED WITH A VISIBLE MODERN EFFECT ONCE FITTED.
