Description

"An electronic control device for controlling the rotation speed of an agricultural tractor engine" The present invention is related to electronic control devices for controlling the engine rotation speed of an agricultural tractor, of the type comprising an electronic regulation system with associated programmable electronic unit, and a check panel provided with manual selection means electrically connected to the said electronic unit for selectively setting the rotation speed of the engine.
The object of the present invention is to provide a control device of the above mentioned type which is adapted to afford increased possibilities of automatism to the operator of the tractor in the adjustment of the engine rotation speed, even in connection with operation of the tractor with the relative power take-off (PTO) engaged.
A further object of the invention is to provide a control device of the aforesaid type which enables improving both ergonomics of the controls, and the working productivity of the agricultural tractor, due to a more convenient and rapid setting of the rotation speed of the tractor engine.
According to the invention, the above objects are achieved by virtue of a device of the above-mentioned type for the electronic control of the rotation speed of an agricultural tractor engine, having at least one power take-off adapted to be rotatably coupled to the engine and to be set in a plurality of operative conditions corresponding to predetermined rotation speeds of the engine, characterized in that it further comprises transducer means for detecting the said operative conditions of the power take-off and providing corresponding electrical signals to the electronic unit of the regulating system, and in that the check panel is provided with at least two control push buttons which can be operated for recalling and setting by means of the said electronic unit at least two corresponding different rotation speeds of the engine, with a storage push button for modifying the values of the rotation speeds of the engine which can be recalled by operating one or the other of the said at least two control push buttons, and with a setting push button for automatically setting the speed of rotation of the engine as a function of the condition of the power take-off detected by the said transducer means According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the said control push buttons are four, so as to allow storage and immediate selective setting of respective values of the engine rotation speed.
The invention will now be disclosed in detail with reference to the annexed drawing, provided purely by way of non limiting example, which shows a block diagram of the electronic control device according to the invention.
Referring to the drawing, reference numeral 1 designates generically an electronic control device for controlling the rotation speed of an agricultural tractor engine.
The device 1 comprises, in a generally conventional way, an electronic regulator 2 known per se, normally operatively connected with the injection pump of the engine, with associated programmable electronic unit 3, which can be autonomous or integrated with the regulator 2.
Reference numeral 4 designates a display (optional) connected to the electronic unit 3 for indication of the set rotation speed of the engine, and reference 5 indicates transducers adapted to detect the operative conditions of the tractor power take-off and to provide corresponding electrical signals to the electronic unit 3.
Normally three different control members are associated with the power take-off (mechanical levers or push buttons switches): a first control member for engagement and disengagement of the power take-off, i.e. for coupling and uncoupling the corresponding shaft relative to the tractor engine; a second control member for selecting the rotation speed of the power take-off according to one or the other of two different standard speeds (540-1000 RPM); and a third control member for applying a reduction ratio to the said two standard speeds. Consequently, the number of the transducers 5 is variable as a function of the type of the control members used, and representation thereof in the figure is purely indicative.
Reference 6 designates a check panel provided with manual selection means electrically connected to the electronic unit 3 of the control device 1 for selectively setting the rotation speed of the tractor engine by means of the regulator 2.
According to the invention, the check panel 6 comprises a first and a second pair of control push buttons 7, 8, a storage push button 9 and an automatic setting push button 10.
Each of the control push buttons 7, 8 can be operated in order to modify and then to set permanently, using the strorage push button 9, any rotation speed of the engine selected as the operator likes, in the range of the RPM peculiar of the engine. In the figure, these speeds are indicated by "MAX", "MIN","SERV1", "SERV2" respectively.
Once having set the four different selected speeds, which are stored by the electronic unit 3, each of them can be automatically recalled by means of operation of the corresponding control push button 7, 8. The respective set rotation speed is indicated in turn by the display 4, if the latter is employed.
By operating instead the setting push button 10, in the engaged condition of the power take-off the control device leads the tractor engine to rotate at a speed such that the shaft of the said power take-off is driven at the standard speed selected by means of the respective control members. The selection of the speed is automatically accomplished, by means of the signals fed by the transducer 5, as a function of the condition set by the said control members (540 RPM, 1000 RPM, Economical), in the way previously clarified.
It will be apparent from the above that the control device according to the invention allows achievement of a wide range of automatisms for the immediate setting of preselected rotation speeds of the engine, thus appreciably improving the comfort and the convenience of operation of the tractor for the driver.
Naturally the details of construcion and the embodiments of the invention may be widely modified with respect to what has been disclosed and illustrated, without therefor departing from the scope of the invention such as defined in the appended claims.
