Abstract
A lime scale inhibitor has a body A and metal components B, C, D, E, G with holes F to the interior of the body. Rings J and clips I allow the inhibitor to be submerged permanently in the live side of a water heating system ensuring the constant treatment of the system (Figure 3). As it is unusual to have any form of isolation between a supply tank and heating source then all water within that circuit is one, therefore all of it is susceptible to the same influence. This continuity ensures full and constant efficiency of the lime scale inhibitor placed within that system. <IMAGE>
Description
SUBMERSIBLE LIME SCALE INHIBITOR
This invention relates to a submersible lime scale inhibitor.
Lime scale inhibitors are well known appliances which comprise a copper tube surrounded by magnets or assorted metal rings enclosed in a watertight casing with fixings at each end to secure to other pipe work. These are known as "On Line" and are all connected to cold water mains pipe work.
On line inhibitors only function to their full efficiency when the water is passing through them directly to the heating process. At all other times the mains water is isolated from the heating process thereby restricting their function.
According to the present invention there is provided a submersible lime scale inhibitor comprising a variety of assorted metal tubing enclosed in a tubular casing with sealed ends and drillings through its axis to allow the free passage of water from external to internal. There are external ring fixings to enable the connection of a means of suspension in the form of a wire with split rings on each end secured by crimped metal sleeving. Also on this suspension wire are sliding metal clips, one enabling adjustment of length of suspension the other to secure in position. The lime scale inhibitor to be constantly and totally submerged in the water heating system.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 shows in perspective the submersible lime scale inhibitor assembled.
Figure 2 illustrates the components and order of assembly.
Figure 3 shows the submersible lime scale inhibitor in position in the water heating system.
Referring to the drawings the lime scale inhibitor comprises of a tubular outer casing A, various internal metal components B,C Fig 2 suspension rings D sealed ends
E,through axis drillings F, anti slip rivets G,included also is the suspension wire H to which is attached split rings J and adjustment clips I (1), securing clips I(2).
In order to activate the lime scale inhibitor the two split rings J on the end of the suspension wire H must be attached to the fixed suspension rings D with the adjustment clip I (1) remaining at the centre of suspension wire H slide securing clip I(2) towards the unit. This will result in a loop of wire between the two clips I(1) and I(2).In the water supply tank to the heating process N Fig 3 pass the ball and arm O.P. of the main water isolating valve through this loop and hang the submersible lime scale inhibitor around the shoulder K of the isolating valve. Set to height as per instruction sheet (not shown ) by means of clip
I(l)and crimp clip I(1) with pliers. Secure the submersible lime scale inhibitor by sliding clip I(2) upwards ensuring tightening of suspension wire H around the isolating shoulder K.
L Fig 3 shows final position of submersible lime scale inhibitor constantly immersed in water on live side of water heating process.
M Fig 3 is connecting outlet pipe to water heating process.
