Abstract

An attachment nut (35) is slidably restrained from rotation in a slotted strip (10) to provide adjustment of the connection of a lateral bar (not shown) to one side or the other of the strip (10), there being lugs (12) integrally formed on the strip (10) and provided with bores (17, 18) securable to holes (32) in an upright bar (30). Rectangular bosses (not shown) on the rear of the strip (10) engage in holes (31). The nut (35) is retained by a pin (19, 20). <IMAGE>

Description

2271408 Attachment Device for Bars with Rows of Apertures and Bores The
invention relates to an attachment device for bars exi., with at least one row of apertures,Isquare or rectangular in cross- section, which are uniformly distributed and between which, at the same distribution, a row of bores is disposed, in particular for frame members, assembly bars and the like in switchgear cabinets.
To an increasing degree, switchgear cabinets nowadays comprise a rack framework composed of frame members, as is shown by DE 33 44 598 Cl. In this case the frame members are provided on two profiled sides with rows of uniformly-spaced square or rectangular apertures. Between the apertures there are introduced, at the same spacing, bores which likewise form a row. Assembly bars may be incorporated into these switchgear cabinets, said assembly bars being in turn provided with the same rows of apertures and bores. These assembly bars may be connected by attachment members to the frame members of the rack, and to one another, as shown by DE 83 35 380 Ul and DE 83 35 382 Ul. These known attachment members and types of attachment are not only complicated, but the points of attachment are restricted to quite specific points determined by the distribution of the apertures and of the bores.
low-_ 2 The purpose of the invention is to provide an attachment device of the type already mentioned by means of which assembly is simplified, and an attachment point for the bar may be located at will on one side or the other of the bar, within a defined range of adjustment.
This purpose is fulfilled according to the invention in that it is formed as a strip-like attachment member, in which there is provided longitudinally a receiving groove closed at both ends, and in which an attachment nut is non-rotatably secured in a captive yet restrictedlyadjustable manner, in that the upper and lower sides of the attachment member are provided in the vicinity of the receiving groove with slot-shaped apertures narrower than the receiving groove and oriented symmetrically to the central axis of the receiving groove, and in that there is integrally formed on the attachment member at least one attachment lug provided with a bore, and securable to a bore in the bar.
By means of the attachment lug, the attachment member may be attached in a spaced manner on one or the other side of the bar. The attachment nut represents the point of attachment. The receiving groove in the attachment member defines the path of adjustment of the attachment nut and thus also the range within which the 3 point of attachment may be displaced, on either side of the bar, depending on how the attachment member is secured to the bar.
According to one development, non-rotary locking of the attachment member on the bar is effected in that a respective attachment lug is integrally formed to one end of the attachment member on both longitudinal sides, and in that the bores of the attachment lugs are at a spacing apart which corresponds to the distribution of the bores in the bar.
Securing the attachment member to the bar is simplified in that the attachment lugs connect flush with the underside of the attachment member, and in that centring bosses are integrally formed on the underside of the attachment member, between the bores in the attachment lugs, at a spacing of half a distribution division, said bosses matching the cross-section of an aperture in the bar, and engaging in one of these apertures when the attachment member is secured to the bar. Thus the centring bosses align the attachment member in such a way that the bores in the attachment lugs coincide with bores in the bar.
According to one development, manufacture of the attachment member is simplified in that the receiving groove is introduced from one terminal end of the strip-shaped attachment member, and is closed by a 4 closure member- Thus it is arranged in the simplest way that the closure member is in the form of a pin which is inserted into a bore in the upper side of the attachment member, and projects into the receiving 5 groove.
Manufacture of the attachment member is also simplified in that the slotshaped aperture in the underside of the attachment member extends, like the receiving groove, beyond the centring bosses as far as the associated end of the attachment member.
The inventionwill be explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment, given by way of example, and illustrated in the drawings, which show:
Fig. 1: a front elevation of the upper side of a strip-shaped attachment member; Fig. 2: a section through the attachment member, 20 along line IIII of Fig. 1; Fig. 3: an elevation of the end face of the attachment member with attachment lugs and centring bosses; Fig. 4: a plan view of an attachment member secured 25 to a bar,and Fig. 5: a section along line V-V of Fig. 4. Figs. 1 to 3 show a strip-shaped attachment member 10, which may be attached to a bar in order laterally to - 5 displace the point of attachment occupied on the bar, i.e. the occupied aperture, enabling it to be adjusted within a restricted range. The strip-shaped attachment member 10 defines a longitudinally-extending receiving groove 14 in order to receive in a non-rotatable manner an attachment nut, and whose dimensions are adapted to those of the inserted attachment nut.
Slot-shaped apertures 13 and 15 respectively are provided in the upper and lower sides of the attachment member 10, so that there is access from both sides to the attachment nut. These apertures 13 and 15 are narrower than the receiving groove 14 and are disposed symmetrically to its central longitudinal axis. The receiving groove 14 is inserted from one end into the strip-shaped attachment member 10. The two attachment lugs 12 with bores 17 and 18 are laterally integrally formed on this end of the attachment member 10. The spacing between the bores 17 and 18 corresponds to the distribution of the bores in the bar. The slot-shaped aperture 15 in the underside of the attachment member 10 extends, like the receiving groove 14, as far as the associated end face of the attachment member 10, whereas the aperture 13 in the upper side extends only as far as the attachment lugs 12 and has in its end region a bore 19 into which a closure member may be inserted which secures the attachment nut inserted into the receiving groove 14 in a captive manner.
6 The attachment flanges 12 connect flush with the underside of the attachment member 10. Integrally formed between the bores 17 and 18 of the attachment lugs 12, at half the spacing, are the projecting centring bosses 16. These centring bosses are divided by the aperture 15, and match an aperture in the bar so that, when the attachment member 10 is attached to the bar, the centring bosses 16 engage in an aperture in the bar and align the attachment member 10 in such a way that the bores 17 and 18 of the attachment flanges 12 are flush with the bores in the bar.
As Pigs. 4 and 5 show, the attachment nut 35 is secured in a captive manner in the receiving groove 14 by means of a closure member 36 in the form of a pin. The pin is inserted into the bore 19 and projects into the receiving groove 14. The centring bosses 16 are introduced into an aperture 31 in the bar 30, which has such apertures 31 uniformly distributed in a row.
Between each two apertures 31, a bore 32 is provided in the bar 30. These bores 32 therefore likewise form a row with the same distribution.
The attachment flanges 12 are integrally formed with a lateral spacing on the end of the attachment member 10 closed by the pin, so that the bores 17 and 18 are flush with bores 32 in the bar 30. The attachment member 10 may therefore be screwed to the bar 30 by means of screws 33 and 34. The attachment nut 35 may be - 7 displaced as far as the end of the receiving groove 14, and as far as the stop formed by the closure member 36, so that the point of attachment may be altered over this range. It is self-evident that the attachment member 10 may also be attached to the bar 30 in such a way that it is spaced on the other side of the bar 30. Moreover, the attachment member 10 may also have only one integral attachment flange 12, when the centring bosses 16 are present.
