Abstract

1453929 Frame joints BRITISH ALUMINIUM CO Ltd 24 Oct 1973 [4 Oct 1972] 45754/72 Heading F2M A kit of parts for making a rectangular frame particularly for use in double glazing comprises square-ended elongate frame members 12 and 13, corner connecting pieces 14 and retaining members 15. Frame member 12 has channels 18, 20 and 23, channel 20 is undercut and engages the tongue 24 of the corner connecting piece 14. Frame member 13 has channels 21, 22 and 23, channel 22 has a circular section, opens into channel 21 and takes screw 16 fixing it to the corner piece 14. Channels 18 and 21 can receive a glazing sheet and channels 23 can receive sealing strips. The retaining member 15 may be fixed to the tongue 24 by means of screw 17 thereby fixing frame 12 to corner piece 14. The head 28 of the corner connecting piece 14 is of the same outward shape as the frame member 13 so that it forms a smooth extension. The frame members and comer pieces are preferably of aluminium or aluminium alloy extrusions or the corner pieces may be metal or plastics material mouldings or castings; the retaining members are preferably of plastics material and may be integral with the corner pieces.
