Abstract
227,065. Hosken, Trevithick, Polkinhorn, & Co., Ltd., and Fitchett, W. J. Aug. 14, 1924. Vans; bodies; doors, van. - A motor vehicle body adapted to serve as a movable shop and having means for giving direct access from the driver's cab to the interior of the shop is provided with a floor above the level of the rear axle and a well slung beneath an aperture in the floor for the occupation of the driver or other person acting as salesman. As shown, the cab b and shop c, are separated by a partition d having an opening provided, if desired, with a door t, the driver's seat e being hinged to tip up to facilitate access to the shop. The well f is secured to the floor bv brackets g, and the body may also be provided with a counter or chopping block h and a false floor k. The customers are served through a window i closed by a sliding glass or other panel and rear doors l may be hinged to the sides or floor of the body. The doors may occupy only the lower portion of the rear of the body in which case the upper portion is closed by a hinged flap m. To convert the body into an ordinary van, the upper part of the shops above the line x, y may be removed after securing clasps r have been released, flanges being provided at the edges o, p to make watertight joints. The shop fittings and false floor k are then removed and the well covered over.
