Abstract

The garment 1, embodies at least one lengthwise extendable telescopic double fold 2fa/2fb, in the garment materials of the midriff section 2m. Alternatively, the midriff section embodies one or more detachable telescopic sections. The telescopic means are secured by one or more rows of stitching 6, and/or other materials securing means, including one or more rows of male/female press studs, and/or buttons and button holes, and/or Velcro (RTM), and/or zip fastener. Additionally the garment sleeves 10, and garment legs 11, are also embodied with similar lengthwise extendable telescopic means 12 & 13, respectively. The garment may be for children or a full bodied suit for workmen or in the uniformed professions, as well as wet suits and suits for use in sub-zero temperatures. <IMAGE>

Description

A MUI,TT-ENT AMNT This invention relates to a multi-length garment with lengthwise extendable telescopic features provided in the midriff section, and as an optional addition similar lengthwise extendable telescopic features provided in the sleeves and/or the garment legs.
The necessity for a multi-length garment is especially acute in the clothing demands of small children who tend to grow lengthwise very fast. Children tend to outgrow their clothes every few months, which is uncomfortable for the children, inconvenient for their parents, and a strain on their purse strings.
PRIOR ART Although some forms of multi-length garments have existed for years (such as dungarees), the lengthwise adjustment is achieved by lengthening (or shortening) straps that go over the shoulders of the wearer. Alternatively, adjustment is attained by changing the button hole positions of either the back flap and/or front flap. Most of such garments are usually sleeveless or open sided and do not cater for limb growth, nor on their own cover or protect the whole torso and/or limbs from the cold.
The object of the present invention is to overcome the above drawbacks in clothing by providing a lengthwise extendable telescopic garment that caters for the lengthwise growth, and reduces the number of sizes requiring manufacture and stocking by retailers.
The scope of this citation is not limited to children garments, but includes all age groups and sizes, and is particularly useful in applications like full bodied suits as used by workmen, uniformed professions as well as wet suits, and suits for use in sub-zero temperatures.
REFERENC TO DRAWTNS Specific embodiments of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: SHEET 1 Fig. A is a front view of the integral one piece version of the garment with the extend able telescopic double fold sections 2t, 12 & 13 tucked in with stitching in place, i.e.
the shorter mode.
Fig. B is the back view of Fig. A.
Fig. C is the integral one piece version of the garment with the fold stitching removed and all the folds opened up, i.e.
the longer mode.
Fig. D is the back view of Fig. C.
SHEET 2 Fig. E, F, G & H are similar views to Figs. A, B, C, & D respectively except that this is a two-piece detachable version and the material overlaps and is secured by buttonsXbutton holes instead of stitching.
SHEET 3 Figs. L & M are the front and back view of the three-piece buttons and button holes version longer mode.
Figs. J & K are the front and back views with the central sections removed - shorter mode.
SHEET 4 Fig. Q & R and N & P are three-piece garments and are similar views to sheet 3, except that zip fasteners are embodied instead of buttons and button holes.
SHEET 5 Figs. S, U, W & Y are details of 4 versions of the integral double fold in the tucked-in or shorter mode, as per figs. A & B.
Figs. T, V, X, & Z are details of the same 4 versions in the extended or longer mode with the double fold unfolded, as per figs. C & D.
Fig. S illustrates the stitching, and Fig. T the stitches removed.
Figs. U & V illustrate the press studs.
Figs. W & X illustrate the buttonslAutton holes Figs. Y & Z illustrate the velcro DESCRIPTION: Referring to the drawings, there is provided a multi-length garment 1, embodying at least one lengthwise extendable telescopic means 2t, provided in the waistband or the midriff section, 2m, significantly encompassing the circumference of the midriff section 2m, of the garment 1.
In one preferred embodiment, see sheet 1, the telescopic means 2t, embodies at least one integral tucked in, lengthwise telescopic double fold 2fa/2fb, in the garment material, see figures A, B, S, W, U, & s Y, The telescopic double folds 2fa and 2fb, are preferably secured by one or more rows of stitching 6, Figs. A, B. & S, and/or other materials securing means, including at least one row of male & female press studs 7, Fig. U, aad/r buttons 8a, and button holes 8b, Figs. W X, and/or velcro , Figs. Y & Z.
In alternative embodiments, see sheets 2, 3, & 4, the said telescopic means 2t, embodies one or more detachable telescopic sections 2ta, 2tb, & 2tc, see figures E to R, which are secured by at least one row of detachable/reattachable material securing means, including buttons and button holes 3 3bM or male and female press studs (not shown), or velcro Snot shown), or a zip fastener means 4a/4b and 5a/5b, figs. N, P, Q, & R.
Preferably the total number of detachable telescopic sections is two, Figs. E, F, G, & H, or alternatively the total number of telescopic sections is three Figs. J to R.
Preferably as an optional addition the said garment 1, is provided with a pair of garment sleeves 10, and/or pair of garment legs 11.
Preferably the garment sleeves 10, are embodied with at least one lengthwise extendable telescopic means 12 and the garment legs 11, are embodied with at least one lengthwise extendable telescopic means 13, both means similar in construction to those embodied in the midriff section 2m, see Figs. A to Z.
Preferably the zip fastener means 4a/4b and 5a/5b, is provided near and/or -at the edges of the joins 14, of the telescopic sections 2ta, 2tb, & 2tc, with and/or without a telescopic overlap between the said sections 2ta, 2tb, & 2tc.
