Abstract

A fluid pressure sensitive releasing device comprising a body (20) of a material which has a certain strength in a condition in which it is affected by fluid and which strength is considerably reduced with exposure of the material to fluid. The body is used in its non-influenced condition to maintain a release member (21) in a secure position whilst the member is arranged to be displaced to a released position, preferably by the action of a spring (28), when the material of the body reduces its strength due to the influence of fluid. According to the invention the body is kept separated from the surrounding atmosphere, whose possible humidity could influence the body to reduce its strength, by means of a valve arrangement (5, 32). This is arranged to separate the body from the surroundings by means of a sleeve (32) of sealing material which is arranged to be penetrated by parts (34) which are arranged to be displaced when the device is subjected to a certain pressure. Once penetrated, the body is exposed to the surroundings. When the device is submerged in liquid to a certain depth, the valve arrangement (5, 32) is influenced by the generated pressure to thereby open and let in liquid to the body (20) so that releasing takes place and releasing of the mechanism for which the releasing device is designed, occurs.
