Abstract

Aeroplanes; planes, arrangement and construction of; propelling; steering and balancing; cabins; wind deflecting screens, arrangement of. -An aeroplane comprises a central cylindrical, octagonal or hexagonal body a forming a supporting-surface and having laterally extending planes c shaped as shown in Fig. 4. The wings c may be folded along hinges s. An engine r drives a propellor q which is of smaller diameter than the central body and is arranged just at the entrance thereto. A fin k at the upper forward part of the body has divergent rear extensions l forming a protective screen for a pilot's cockpit m. Lateral openings b are formed in the body beneath the planes c. Ailerons h, hinged along their inner edges g, elevators o, and a rudder i are provided. The machine may be constructed as a biplane, and land wheels or floats may be fitted.
