Abstract

A portable shower system suitable for installation in a caravan, comprises a tubular shower curtain 8 open at the top and down one side and enclosed at the bottom except for a drainage tube 9, (designed to be fitted through the caravan floor). The curtain is supported from above by a curtain rail of variable dimensions. Within the shower curtain is a water container 1, in to which water, pre-heated if required, is poured. A battery powered submersible pump 3, situated within the water container delivers the water via tubing 5, to a shower head 6. Water collecting in the bottom of the shower curtain tube then drains away via the drainage tube. <IMAGE>

Description

MAINS FREE SHOWER SYSTEM This invention relates to a mains free shower system.
Water showers are a well known means of bathing and comprise a shower curtain and curtain rail, a rigid shower base and a shower spray head, and are supplied with water by either a pump or gravity, via a water heater.
However, lack of space and/or component and installation costs preclude the use of water showers in some locations, e.g. many touring caravans.
according to the present invention there is provided a mains free shower system, comprising a shower curtain in the form of a tube, open at te top, fully enclosed at the blotto except for a drainage tube and open down one side from the top to a point approximately 300mm from the bottom, a shower curtain of variable dimensions and so designed as to be w;;ll and/or ceiling fixing, a water container situated within and designed to be fixed, through, if necessary, the shower curtain using screws or similar fixings, at a height of at least 300mm from the bottom of the shower tube, to a support such as a wall, and situated within the water container is a battery powered submersible pump, connected by tubing to a shower spray head.
A specific erbodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: figure 1 shows in perspective, the shower system ready for use.
Figure 2 shows the shower system when not in use.
figure 3 shows the shower curtain prior to assembly, in both rectangular and circular iorrr:ats.
Figure 4 shows the drainage tube, it also shows the bottom of the shower curtain tube as a separate item, releasably fixed to the shower curtain.
Figure 5 illustrates the arrangement necessary for draining when 'through floor' draining is not possible.
referring to the drawing the shower system comprises a shower curtain 8, fig.,1, taking the form of a tube, open at the top, completely enclosed at the bottom except for z drainage tube 9 and open on one side fro the tor to a point at least 300mm from the bottom. supporting the shower curtain from above and fixed to by releasable means in such a manner & would facilitate sliding of the curtain, is a curtain rail 7.The curtain rail, of tubular section, would be cut to length prior to assen;bly, r!as slising swiveilin brackets 16, to facilitate fixing to wall and/or ceiling and in a rectangular format has four flexible corner points 17, in a circular or ellirtical format a connector 20, is used.
within the snower tube, secured to a support such as awall, using screws or similar fixints through the shower curtain, is a water container 1, in to which water pre-heatea to a desired temperature is poured, ( the exterior of the water container being so designed as to provide standing/storage space for toiletries e.g. top of the water container could be partially enclosed or 2 shelf 10, could be provided).
This water is delivered by a battery powered submersible pump 3, (electrical power being supplied by an external battery source via wire and switch, 4) situated within the water container, via a flexible tube 5 to the shower spray head 6. Neater leaving the shower head would collect in the bottom of the shower tube, eventually draining out through the drainage tube 9.
The drainage tube, in the case of a caravan, would lerd directly through the caravan floor nd if required, be linked to the existing drainage system of the caravan. When the drainage tube 9, is not linked to such a drainage system then a stop 2, would be fitted to the drain tube so as to be outside the caravan, preventing the drainage tube being Fulled back through the floor accidentally.
Where 'through floor' draining is not possible, a battery powered submersible pump 13 (Fig.,5), powered by an external better source vie wires ad switch 14 rcd a removable watertight plug 19, would be fitted to the drainage tube, facilitating draining -t some distant, perhaps hither joint.
To allow variation in the positioning of the drainage tube in relation to the shower curtain recess joint and water container 1, rendering tr.e system more adaptable to existing caravans (referring to the many permutations of toilet compartment ccess door in relation to the drainage point rnd the water container supporting wall), the shower tube may take the form of a standard shower curtain 18 (Fig.,4) having a separate section 11, complete with drainage tube, forming the base of the shower tube, the shower curtain fixed to the base section by releasable means i.e. press studs 12.
