Abstract

225,671. Young, W. Oct. 19, 1923. Hay-cocking machines.-The hay is thrown into a receptacle d of truncated cone shape and formed of sheet metal or other material, encircling bands f, g, h, being provided at the ends and at or near the middle. Each of the bands is formed of sections, the sections forming the band f at the narrow end of the receptacle being secured to each other by pivots f<1>, while the sections of the others are secured by interconnecting means such as hinged straps j<1> fitting over eyes j. The receptacle d is mounted on trunnions c borne on triangular frames a forming the sides of a. four-wheeled bogie. The receptacle, which is normally held erect by a pin engaging the frame, is inverted after being filled with hay and one side opened out on the pivots f<1> to free the completed haycock, a winch l and rope m being provided to facilitate this operation. The receptacle may be removed from the bogie and the sides of the bogie brought towards one another to enable the vehicle to pass through farm gates.
