Abstract

A table has pivotally folding legs which rotate between an out-of-use position alongside the table top (see Fig 2A) and an in-use position beneath the table (see Fig. 2B). The leg 1 is mounted on a plate 2 which pivots on a pin 7 secured in a slot between two side plates 6. In the embodiment, the leg is rotated through 270 DEG . <IMAGE>

Description

FOLDING LEG PIVOT.
This invention relates to a folding leg pivot.
Folding leg pivot devices are used to position supporting legs under worktops, desks, tables and the like; after use the pivot arrangement enables the support legs to be folded away.
The invention thus described relates to worktops, desks, tables and the like. It is a folding leg pivot arrangement which gives support under the edge of the worktop when the worktop is in use, but enables the support leg to be folded away out of view when the worktop is in the stored position and not in use.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example for a worktop support leg with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 - Shows in perspective the folding leg pivot arrangement and support leg in the stored position, folded away out of sight when viewed from the front.

Referring to the drawing - the folding leg pivot arrangement comprises a support leg 1, secured to pivot plate 2, by means of location sleeve 3, and locking screw 4. The pivot plate 2, is positioned and guided in the worktop 5, by means of side pieces 6, and pivot pin 7. The side pieces 6, are secured to the worktop 5, by means of fixing screws 8. A slot in the worktop 5, locates the side pieces 6.
FIG 1 and FIG 2A show the worktop 5, in the stored position, the support leg 1, is folded away and is out of view when looking from the front in the direction or the arrow 9.
In order to set up the worktop 5 for use (i.e. positioned as shown in FIG 2B and FIG 3) the support leg 1, is rotated by means of pivot pin 7, so that it is positioned under the edge of the worktop 5, to give full support. This is shown in FIG 2B and FIG 3, To return to the stored position the steps described above are carried out in the reverse sequence.

Claims (1)

  1. CLADdS.
    1 - A folding leg pivot arrangement which gives support under the edge of the worktop when the worktop is in use but enables the support leg to be folded away out of view when the worktop is in the stored position and not in use.
    2 - A folding leg pivot arrangement as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the support leg is rqtated by means of a pivot from the in-use position to the stored position and vice versa.
    3 - A folding leg pivot arrangement as claimed in Claim 2 wherein the support leg is held in position by means of a location sleeve, pivot plate and locking screw.
    4 8 A folding leg pivot arrangement as claimed in Claim 3 wherein the pivot plate is positioned and guided in the worktop by means of side pieces and a pivot pin.
    5 - A folding leg pivot arrangement as claimed in Claim 4 wherein a slot in the worktop locates the side pieces in position.
    The side pieces are secured in the worktop by means of fixing screws.
    6 - A folding leg pivot arrangement as described herein with reference to Figures 1 - 3 of the accompanying drawing.
