Folding paper. - In folding-mechanism for printing-presses and the like of the type in which the sheets are carried on the periphery of a rotary folding-member which also carries a cam-actuated rotary tucker blade cooperating with a pair of rotary folding- rollers 70, 79, Fig. 2, means are provided for varying the place of actuation of the cam relatively to the folding-rollers. When the folding-roller 79 is adjusted away from the other folding roller 70, to accommodate a greater number of sheets of paper, the cam 23 and the ring 32 which control the tucker blade are both bodilymoved round so that the blade will be timed to strike exactly midway between the rollers 70, 79. This adjustment is made by slackening the bolts in the slotted lugs 42, 43 and 58 rotating a tangential screw 60 which turns the ring 32 and the cam 23 round to the desired position, and then re-tightening the bolts. Fig. 4 shows means for adjusting the folding-roller 79, comprising a hand-wheel 108 actuating wedges 100 sliding between retaining nuts 102 and a fixed end, so that the arms 90 carrying the roller 79 are retracted slightly. The roller 79 is yieldingly held in position by springs 91 in cylinders 88 encasing the supporting arms 90. Fig. 6 shows one of the wedges 100 with an internally threaded hub 104 and a recess 101 to engage the end of the rod 90. Specifications 225,304 and 225,306 are referred to.
