Abstract

A boom wall bracket e.g. a wall mounted fitment to be used for the purpose of suspending hanging items e.g. garden baskets, or plant pots, comprises: (i) the main body, 3, secured vertically to the wall by a screw via a pre-drilled hole at a point through the face at the higher end. (ii) the horizontal boom, 2, e.g. forward facing arm located by mortice fit to the face at the lower end of the main vertical body and having a vertical pre-drilled hole near the outer end. (iii) a length of supporting material, 3, e.g. wire, chain, rope etc anchored at, or near, the main body fixing screw, by various methods. It then passes forward and down passing through the vertical hole at the outer end of the horizontal boom and terminating in a hook below the boom. <IMAGE>

Description

BOOM BRACKET This invention relates to a Boom Bracket.
The boom bracket is a wall mounted fitment from which a hanging object can be suspended. There is a traditional tpe of wall mounted bracket readily available. The traditional wall bracket is usually of metal construction and has two main parts to its design; an upright and a horizontal forward facing arm. Some also having a cross brace. The upright is secured by screws to the wall, and the horizontal forward facing arm supplies the attachment point for the suspended item e.g. flower basket etc.
The main load bearing member of the traditional wall mounted bracket is the forward facing horizontal arm and due to this the general construction of the bracket must, by necessity, be heavy.
The "Boom Wall Bracket;" though similar to the traditional wall mounted bracket, differs in that it does not use the forward facing boom/arm (2) as the main load bearing member, but utilizes a length of supporting material, e.g. wire, chain, rope of equatable strength to support the weight of the item to be suspended.
The "Boon Wall Bracket" can be constructed from various materials e.g. wood, metal, plastic etc to suit various needs and environments e.g. internal and external use.
The supporting material (3) is anchored/secured by various methods (5) to the upper face of the wall mounted upright, (1) then extends forward and down to pass through a pre-drilled vertical hole at the outer end of the boom (2). The inner end of the boom being morticed into the lower end of the main upright. The supporting material (3) having passed through the vertical hole at the outer end of the boom (2) is then terminated in a hook below the boom, attached to which is the item to be suspended.
PANEL B Referring to the drawings, the Boom Wall Bracket is comprised of a main upright (1), a forward facing boom (2), and a length of supporting material (3), which from its secured position in the main upright(1), passes through the boom (2), as illustrated in Fig. 1 and is terminated with a hook below the boom.
There is a pre-drilled hole at the higher end of the main upright (1) in order to screw the main upright to the wall using an appropriate size screw (4).
The forward facing horizontal boom (2) is attached to the lower part of the main upright, in the case of a wooden construction, as illustrated figs: 1 and 2 by a mortice fit, or by welding, in the case of a metal construction.
The supporting material (3) is anchored/secured by various methods (5) to the upper face of the wall mounted upright, (1) then extends forward and down to pass through a pre-drilled vertical hole at the outer end of the boom (2). The inner end cf the boom being morticed into the lower end of the main upright. The supporting material (3) having passed through the vertical hole at the outer end of the boom (2) is then terminated in a hook below the boom, attached to which is the item to be suspended.
In order to affix the boom bracket to the chosen wall site the simple requirement of a drill and screwdriver are needed. There is a pre-drilled hole in the main upright (1). An appropriate size hole must be drilled in the chosen wall site to equate the size of the securing screw. The boom bracket can then be secured to the wall by this screw fixing.
Should the boom bracket need to be removed, it is simply a reverse of the method described above, with just the one hole in the wall to make good after its removal.

Claims (3)

1. A boom bracket comprising of a main wall mounted upright, a forward facing boom, and a length of supporting material is a method of securing hanging baskets to a wall.
2. A boom bracket as claimed in claim 1, wherein the forward facing boom is not the main loadbearing member of the boom bracket.
3. A boom bracket as claimed in claims 1 and 2 wherein the load bearing capability of the boom bracket of equal size by comparison, is greater than the traditional wall mounted backet due to the supporting material acting through the boom to provide a triangulated load bearing structure.
