Abstract

A buffer spring (6) is constructed as a conical spiral spring with a rectangular winding cross-section, so that it serves at the same time as a covering for the space which it surrounds containing a hydraulic piston (3). The spring (6) is preferably provided with bends at its ends in order to resist torsion. <IMAGE>

Description

2251 l 1 Hydraulic clutch operation arranqement The present invention
relates to a hydraulic clutch operation arrangement comprising a clutch bearing, a sliding sleeve acting thereon, which serves at the same time as a piston, a housing having the pressure medium supply and a spring, arranged between the housing and the coupling bearing, prestressing the coupling bearing and securing it against torsion.
Such a clutch operation arrangement is proposed in DE-U-71 29 822. Identical clutch operation arrangements, as regards construction, are also proposed in DE-U-88 15 881 and US-A-4,708,228. All the embodiments have in common the fact that they have a cylindrical spiral spring, prestressing the clutch bearing, arranged between the housing and the clutch bearing, and have a cover arrangement, e.g. in the form of a bellows, surrounding the housing or respectively the operation arrangement.
The spiral spring and the cover arrangement are individual parts which must be mounted separately from each other, which requires additional storage and expenditure on assembly. In addition, they require space axially and radially.
An aim of the present invention is further developing a clutch operation arrangement ofthe construction indicated in the opening paragraph of the 2 present specification such that by simple means a clutch operation arrangement is produced which saves space and comprises fewer individual parts.
Accordingly the present invention is directed to a hydraulic clutch operation arrangement having the construction set out in the opening paragraph of the present specification in which the spring is constructed as a conical spiral spring with a rectangular winding cross-section, so that it serves at the same time as a covering for the space which it surrounds. - It is possible to make an arrangement in accordance with the immediately preceeding paragraph which fulfills three requirements, namely prestressing of the bearing and security with regard to torsion and covering, with a single element, which in addition is commercially available at a favourable cost in comparison with a conventional construction.
Advantageously the spring is provided at the start of the winding and at the end of the winding with 0 bends to secure it against torsion.
Preferably the pitch of the spring winding is smaller than the width of the rectangular winding crosssection.
An example of a hydraulic clutch operation arrangement made in accordance with the present invention is shown in the accompanying drawing, the only Figure of which shows an axial sectional view of such an 1 Z,t - 3 arrangement.
The clutch bearing 1 shown in the Figure is arranged so as to be radially adjustable via an adjustment spring 2 on the sliding sleeve 3, which at the same time serves as a piston and forms a pressure chamber together with a housing 4 which has a pressure medium supply S. Between the housing 4 and the clutch bearing 1, a buffer spring 6 is arranged, which both prestresses the clutch bearing 1 and secures it against torsion, and also serves as a covering for the space which it surrounds. The buffer spring 6 is constucted as a conical spiral spring with a rectangular winding cross-section. It is provided at the start and end of its winding with bends (not shown) to secure it against torsion, and it has a pitch which is smaller than the width of the rectangular winding crosssection. Consequently, the conventional bellows seal can be dispensed with.
