Abstract

A protection device for a table type of disk saw comprises a supporting frame 10 mounted on an extending arm of a mounting shaft of a disk saw; the supporting frame has three slots 101, 102, 103 in which are movably mounted a plurality of pairs of protection disks 20, 22, 24. The protection disks of the pair 22 are positioned one on each side of the disk saw 80, and the other two pairs of disks 20, 24 are mounted in front of and to the rear of the disk saw respectively. Since the movable protection disks are movably mounted, work efficiency can be increased. <IMAGE>

Description

A Protection Device for A Table Type of Disk Saw This invention relates to a highly safe protection device for a table type of disk saw.

The sawing process is considered an important step in the wood and bamboo manufacturers. Although there are many kinds of cutting machines, most of them can only provide a limited cutting operation. In mass production, many different parts in different shape are to be cut, and therefore a saw machine is necessary to do the job; however, in saw-cutting operation, the saw blade usually moves very fast; particularly, a table type of disk saw turns very fast during cutting operation; therefore, the user is subject to being injured.

The fixing mothods for the conventional protection devices are described as follows: (1). The protection shield is fixedly mounted over a knife; the mobility of the shield is limited.

(2). The protection shield is fixedly mounted on the handle of a knife; the shield can only cover the upper space of a disk saw, without being moved or adjusted downwards for further protection.

(3). The protection shield is fixedly mounted on a working table, and can be adjusted up and down manually.

However, all the aforesaid mounting methods for the protection shield have poor protection function, and therefore unexpected injury may take place from time to time; the adjust-ment thereof is also poor; consequently, the 5 working efficiency of the kind can not be improved.

The prime feature of the present invention is that the protection device can completely cover a disk saw by means of a plurality of movable protection disks. The user can be prevented from being injured unintentionally during sawing operation.

Another feature of the present invention is that the protection device is movable and adjustable automatically during sawing operation in accordance with the height of a working piece without affecting protection function thereof; therefore, the sawing operation efficiency would not be affected at all.

An embodiment of this invention is described by way of example with reference to the drawings, in which: FIG.1 is a perspective view of an embodiment according to the present invention.

FIG.2 is a disassembled view of the present invention.

Referring to FIGs.1 and 2, the present invention is shown with a perspective view and a disassembled view respectively, which mainly comprises a supporting frame 10, three sets (six pieces) of movable protection disks 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25, and a plurality of screws 30, nuts 40, and space cylinders 50 and 60. The supporting frame 10 has three slots 101, 102, and 103. Each of the movable protection disks 20,21,22,23,24 and 25 is substantially a round plate having a center hole. Each set of the movable protection disks is movably mounted, through the center hole thereof, on both sides of each of the slots 101,102 and 103 with a screw 30,a space cylinder 50, a space cylinder 60 and a nut 40; then, each set of the movable protection disks can be moved up and down along one corresponding slot.

FIG.3 illustrates the present invention being mounted on a saw rack, in which the supporting frame 10 is fixedly attached through a round hole 104 as shown in FIG.1) to the upper part of an extending arm (not shown) of a mounting shaft of the disk saw. The movable protection disks 22 and 23 are mounted over both sides of a disk saw res-pectively, while the movable protection disks 20,21, and 24,25 are mounted in front of and in the rear of the disk saw respectively; in such manner, the disk saw is completely covered and protected under the protection disks so as to prevent an operator of the disk saw from touching the saw for safety purpose.

Figs.4-l and 4-2 illustrate the cutting operation steps of the present invention. When a working piece 70 is put in the cutting position, the movable protection disks 20,22 and 24 are lowered at the lowest position so as to cover the disk saw 80 as shown in FIG.4-1. As soon as the working piece is pushed in the arrow direction, the movable protection disk 20 will be pushed upwards by the working piece 70; i.e., the movable protection disk 20 will move upwards along the slot 101 to let the working piece feed to the cutting position; almost simultaneously, the movable protection disk 22 will also be moved upwards along slot 102 to let the working piece move in further as shown in FIG.4-2.

Since the movable protection disks can be moved up and down automatically in accordance with the height of a working piece, the cutting operation can be done under a smooth and safety condition.

Claims

A A protection device of table type of disk saw comprising: A supporting frame being a flat piece having three slots; A plurality of movable protection disks, each of which being formed into a round plate with a round center hole; A plurality of space cylinders, screws and nuts; and Every two said movable protection disks being mounted on both sides of one said slot by means of one said screw, one said nut and two said space cylinders; and said supporting frame being mounted on the upper part of an extending arm of a mounting shaft of a disk saw; and two said movable protection disks being mounted on both sides of said slot in mid-part of said supporting frame; and two said sets of movable protection disks being mounted, in the same manner, in said front and rear slots respectively so as to cover the front and rear of said disk saw; and characterized that said movable protection disks being mounted on both sides and in front and rear of said disk saw to cover said disk saw completely, and said movable protection disks able to move up and down along said slots respectively.
