Abstract
A mechanism (10) for a lipstick-holder case or the like, so as to be able to have the sleeve element (12) made of plastics and having a rounded outer edge (20), has a rib and groove engagement (shown circled) between the inner part (14) and the sleeve element (12), such engagement being positioned near the end of the sleeve opposite to the said rounded outer edge. <IMAGE>
Description
MECHANISM FOR LIPSTICK-HOLDER CASE OR THE LIKE
The present invention refers to the yield of -ipstick-holder cases and devices or the like. These devices have a so-called 'mechanism" suitable for containing the cosmetic stick inside a type of tubular case and for exflacting it from the said case by means of a screw movement ihe mechanism generally comprises a case element or tubular sleeve, having spiral shaped grooves on its inner face; a tubular inner element, called the inner part or core, wit one or preferably two vertical slots opposite each other, and free to rotate inside the sleeve but integral axially with the latter; and a cup element carrying the cosmetic stick an an integral way and having one cr preferably two side prongs which engage the spiral shaped grooves of the sleeve through the said vertical
Slits. When a relative rotation movement is caused between the sleeve and the inner tube, for example by holding the outside of the sleeve with the fingers and rotating a control spigot of the inner tube, the cup is faced to move along the spiral groove, and therefore longitudinally along the sleeve, in one or the opposite direction, according to the direction c rotation.
The axial integral but reciprocally r@tating engagement between the sleeve and the inner part or tube is effected by means of a circumferential rib on the upper or outlet edge of the inner tube and a corresponding circumferential underout or channel on the upper or outlet edge of the sleeve.
The mechanism of this type previously were made with the sleeve in metal, and the edge of the sleeve from which the cosmetic stick came out (called the outlet cr upper eogej, was easy mace in a rounded shape, which was desirable both for safety, so as not to cut or scratch the user's skin, and also for the sake of appearance.
with the use of a sleeve in plastic, making the rounded edge delimiting the engagement undercut was a serious problem since molding of the sleeve with an underout and a rounded edge would not allow the withdrawal of the sl sleeve from the mold by unscrewing, except at the expense of unacceptable buckling.
For some time plastic sleeves with a rounded edge have been on the market where the engagement undercut is made after extraction from the mold, by means of additional work on the lathe. This operation however involves considerable extra expense; in addition, the appearance of the sleeve suffers, since the groove part is transparent to light.
The aim of tnis application is to realize a container-dispenser mechanism for a cosmetic ic stick, in which the sleeve has a rounded ouzle- edge without the drawbacks relative to the previous technique.
This aim has been achieved by means Ol a mechanism n which the engagement between the sleeve and the inner tube or inner part is effected by means of undercut and rib coupling situated at the lower extremity of the sleeve, that is at the end opposite the end with the rounded edge.
In this way the sleeve can be achieved completely by moulding and then be extracted from the mold by unscrewing, with a perfect aesthetic appearance.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the appended drawings, in which:
gure 1 is a part sectional side view of the cosmetIc-holder mechanism, along 1-1 in figure 2;
Figure 2 is a part sectional top view of the same, along 2-2 in figure 1;
Figure 3 is an enlargement of the detail circled in figure 1.
In the figures, a lipstick-holder mechanism or, more generally, a container-dispenser for a cosmetic stick is shown as a whole with reference number 10 and comprises a sleeve 12, en inner tube or inner part 14 and a lipstick-holder cup 16.
The sleeve 12 has a cylindrical tubular shape, with inner spiral shaped grcoves 18 forming a multi-start internal thread, and has a rounded upper or @utlet edge 20 and has a circumferential undercut or channel 22 near the base or lower edge, open towards the inside. The underout is delimited at the lower part the terms upper, lower and the like refer to the arrangement in the drawings and should not be understood in a limiting sense) by a small length 23 of the sleeve wall, preferably suitably reduced by means of chamfering.
The inner tube part or core 14 has a tubular upper portion 14a, having one or two longitudinal through holes 26, and a lower control spig@t portion 14b, and is provided with a circumferential rib or bead 28 projecting outwards, for engaging the a@@ve-mentioned underout 22.
The cup 16 is bell shaped in a traditional manner and is received into the part 14, and has one or preferably two opposite wings or prongs 30 which, in the assembled mechanism, extend through the longitudinal openings 26 of the inner part. until they engage the spiral shaped grooves 18 of the sleeve.
All three elements are made of plastic.
In such a way, a relative rotation between the inner part 14 and the sleeve 12. transmitted by holdIng the portion 14b and the sleeve between the fingers, determines the forward or backward movement of the cup along tre longitudinal grooves and therefore along the sleeve.
According to the invention, the inner part 14 is coupled to the sleeve 12 in a way free to rotate but integral with the axial movement by means of the bead or rib 28, positioned below the lower end of the openings 26, or. in other terms, between the openings 25 and the control part 14b.
Such rib, during assembly, is positioned in the undercut 22 by making it pass over the wall 23 under slight pressure.
The part 14b could also have, in a known way, an abutting projection 4@, as shown with a broken line in figure
