Abstract

A liquid painting instrument comprises a pipe-like pen point core body 2 of substantially oval configuration in cross-section, a pair of longitudinal slits 1 oppositely provided on both end portions of the major axis of the oval configuration so that the core body 2 may easily be elastically deformed or bent, and a pen point cover 3 and put on the outer peripheral surface of the core body. <IMAGE>

Description

LIQUID PAINTING INSTRUMENT BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the
Invention
This invention relates to liquid painting instruments including a cosmetic applicator for painting liquid cosmetics, a writing pen for applying ink, or the like. Prior Art
Conventional liquid painting instruments include such type of painting instrument that comprises a pipe-like pen point core body having a crosssectionally circular configuration and a pen point cover made of an elastic porous material and put on the outer peripheral surface of the core body.
With the above painting instrument, there has been involved such a drawback that is inconvenient in painting a phase or a line, mainly derived from the circular configuration of the pen point core body.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is therfore aimed at the provision of such an improved liquid painting instrument that is not only capable of freely effecting both the phase painting and the line painting, but also capable of allowing the pen point to be deformed to an appropriate state for effecting respective pointing works.
In order to achieve the above object, the liquid painting instrument according to the present invention has been conceived and completed, comprising a pipe-like pen point core body of substantially oval configuration in cross-section, a pair of longitudinal slits oppositely provided on both end portions of the major axis of the oval configuration so that the core body may easily be elastically deformed or bent in the direction of the minor axis of the oval configuration, and a pen point cover made of an elastic porous material and put on the outer peripheral surface of the core body.
In use, when the painting is desired, such portion of the pen point cover can be used that corresponds to either end portion of the minor axis of the oval configuration of the pen point core body. In this case, both slits oppositely provided at end portions of the major axis of the oval configuration on the pen point core body allow the latter to be softly bent for effecting the phase painting as desired. While, when the line painting is to be done, the painting work can be effected using such portion of the pen point cover that corresponds to either end portion of the major axis of the oval configuration of the pen point core body. In this case, the pen point core body is difficult to be bent and appropriately exerts its rigidity so that the desired line painting may be conveniently effected.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Fig. 1 is a vertical section of a first embodiment of the liquid painting instrument according to the present invetnion; Fig. 2 is a cross-section taken along line A - A of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a pen point core body of Fig. 1; and - 2 f Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a main part of a second embodiment of the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION AND THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
Referring now to the drawings, the present invention will be described further in detail with respect to preferred embodiments. In Figs. 1 - 3 which illustrate a first embodiment, a pen oint core body 2 made of a plastic material is of substatially oval configuration in cross-section and has a pair of longitudinal slits 1 oppositely provided on both end portions of the major axis of the oval configuration, and thus the core body 2 posseses such property that is easy to be elastically deformed or bent in the direction of the minor axis of the oval configuration. Further, the pen point core body 2 is integrally provided with a connecting tubular portion 4 on upper end thereof, an engaging tubular portion 5 on substantially middle portion thereof, a collar poriton 6 between the connecting tubular poriton 4 and the engaging tubular portion 5, and an undercut engaging projection 7 on outer surface of the engaging tubular poriton 5. The pen point core body 2 is fixed with the connecting tubular portin fitted into a lower end opening of a main shaft 8. The pen point core body 1 further has an ink guide hole 10 provided therein for communicating with an ink tank 9 in the main shaft 8. A hollow fingerstall-type pen point cover 3 which is made of an elastic porous material such as a sponge is put on the outer peripheral surface of the core body 1, with inner face portion of the opening end thereof closely fixed to outer face portion of the engaging tubular portion 5. A front shaft 11 is fixed on a lower end peripheral face portion of the main shaft 8, with both the pen point core body 2 and a lower half portion of the pen point cover 3 covered thereby.
The pen point cover 3 is fixedly sandwiched between the inner surface of the front shaft 11 and the outer surface of the engaging tubular poriton 5. Further, an undercut engaging projection 12 is provided on the inner surface of the front shaft 11 at such a position that has a phase difference from the engaging projection 7 of the engaging tubular portion 5.
Accordingly, the pen point cover 3 is not only fixed by the pressure exerted by both the front shaft 11 and the engaging tubular poriton 5, but also strongly fastened by both the engaging projection 7 of the engaging tubular portion 5 and the engaging projection 12 of the front shaft 11 lest it should slip out of the pen point core body 2. Ink in the ink tank 9 is discharged through the ink guide hole 10 mainly past a lower end opening of the pen point core 2 to moisten the pen point cover 3 which in turn can be used for painting. Further, since the ink can also be discharged through the slits 1, there can be effected an easy supply of the ink over a wide area of the pen point cover 3.
Fig. 4 illustrates a second embodiment of the present invention which comprises the pen point core body 2 merely provided on the front end of a painting shaft 13. Unlike that of the first embodiment which comprises the ink tank within the main shaft 8 to be capable of supplying the ink to the pen point cover 3, it is such arranged that the pen 1 point cover 3 is immersed in ink every time it is used for painting.
As described above, the liquid pointing instrument of the present invetnion is capable of freely effecting both the face painting and the line painting such that, while when painting a face, the pen point can be softly bent, when painting a line, is difficult to be bent with the rigidity thereof appropriately kept. Accordingly, it is very improved from the view point of use in that any desired face and line paintings can be effected in such manners as appropriate for respective painting purpose.
