Description
STRIP REEL This invention relates to a strip reel for winding up and
unwinding fine and foil strip material of metal, with a horizontal reel mandrel rotatably mounted in a machine stand, with a motor drive, for receiving the winding spool of a reel and at least one smoothing roller adjustable.- -_ - relative to the reel mandrel for pressing the strip on the reel mandrel or the reel and with control of the horizontal set position of the smoothing roller parallel to the reel mandrel through adjustment of the positioning force of the actuating cylinder for pressing the smoothing roller on the reel in dependence on the lack of roundness of the reel caused by the winding up (DE 7 609 748 Ul). when winding up fine and foil strips after the rolling on to a strip reel of the kind specified, substantial quantities of air are this problem wound into the reel. A conventional smoothing roller avoids.
only inadequately. The residual air which is wound in causes defects during the winding process on the reel, such as breaches, twists and I transverse waves, which can lead to the reel being completely unusable.
The smoothing roller fitted in the strip reel fulfils two functions. For one the in-feeding fine or 'oil strip is Dressed against the reel by the smoothing roller and in this way there is achieved a squeezing out of a portion of the particles of air adhering to the infeeding fine or foil strip and a portion of the particles of air wound into the reel is expressed from the reel. For the other the smoothing roller gives a smooth, straight edged winding up of the strip on the 215 winding spool.
In a strip reel with a smoothing roller there is the problem that, with the occurrence of flaws in the strip feeding in to the reel, such as lack of flatness on account of long or short edges and edge irregularities, the turns feed on to the reel skewed. This leads to the smoothing roller pressed on to the reel by means of a pressure cylinder likewise setting on the skew and deforming in the pivoted levers carrying the same, so that satisfactory winding up of the strip on the reel is -no longer assured, because of the continuing skewed position of the smoothing roller.
Strip turns running skewed on the reel and unavoidable lack of roundness of the surface of the fine or ffoil strip wound on to the winding spool lead to oscillatory movements of the smoothing roller, whereby dynamic mass forces occur, whic- are superimposed on the static pressing force of the smoothing roller. The dynamic mass forces lead in particular in critical oscillation ranges to shock loading on the reel from the smoothing roller and to damage of the fine or foil strip, as well as of the smoothing roller.
The object of the invention is to develop a control of the adjustment of the smoothing roller of the strip reel as defined, which facilitates a smooth, straight edged winding up of the strip on the winding spool and the reduction of the wound-in air quantities to a minimum.
In order to solve this Droblem the strip reel as defined is provided with a control for adjusting the set position of the smoothing roller aligned parallel to the reel mandrel and a control for adjusting the spacing between the in-feed point of the strip on the reel and the - of the smoothing roller with the reel, according to point of contact claim 1.
Through the control via the actuating cylinder of the smoothing roller the horizontal set position of the smoothing roller is obtained, so that a skewed run-in of the fine or foil strip on the reel on account of striD faults or unavoidable lack of roundness of the surface of the strip wound on to the winding spool is corrected in the shortest time. The spacing control between smoothing roller and the in-feed of the strip on the reel facilitates optimum positioning of the smoothing roller relative to the striD in-feed point with different reel diameters so far as the smallest possible air inclusion in the reel is concerned.
The invention is explained below with reference to schematic drawings of a strip reel. These show:
Figure 1 a side view of the strip reel and Figures 2a - 2c the mode of operation of the control of the horizontal set position of the smoothing roller.
The strip reel 1 according to Figures 1 and 2 for winding up and unwinding a fine or foil strip 2 of metal COMDrises a reel mandrel 3 consisting of two clamping cones for the reception of the winding spool 4 of a reel 5, rotatably mounted in a machine stand, not shown. The strip reel 1 is equipped with a smoothing roller 6, which is fitted on a pivoted lever 7 and can be lowered on to the reel 5 and raised therefrom by means of a pressure cylinder 8 engaging the pivoted lever 7.
The smoothing roller 6 rotatably mounted on the pivoted lever 7 or, if desired, two Divoted levers, is pressed against the reel 5 during the winding up or unwinding of a fine or foil strip 2 on to or off the winding spool 4 of the reel mandrel 3 by two actuating cylinders 9, 10, whose positioning forces A, B can be regulated, engaging on the two ends 6a, 6b of the smoothing roller.
The strip reel 1 is provided with control of the horizontal set position 6' of the smoothing roller 6 aligned parallel to the reel mandrel 3, which is effected by an adjustment of the positioning forces A, B of the actuating cylinders 9, 10 of the smoothing roller 6 in dependence on the skewed position 6", 6"' of the smoothing roller 6 resulting from flaws in the strip 2 or unavoidable lack of roundness of the surface of the strip.1 wound on to the winding spool 4. Departures of the smoothing roller 6 from the horizontal set position 6' are detected by a sensor 11.
The control of the adjustment of the horizontal set position 6' of the smoothing roller 6 in the winding up or unwinding of a foil strip 2 on or off the winding spool 4 of the strip reel 1 operates as follows:
At the beginning of the winding operation the positioning forces A and B of the two actuating cylinders 9, 10 of the smoothing roller 6 are adjusted to the same set value S, so that the predetermined pressing " results. According to force C between smoothing roller 6 and the strip Figure 2a the following relations apply:
A = B = S 7 = -9 -, T If the foil strip 2 runs as in the representation in Figure 2b in a medium inclined position on account of a striD fault, the smoothing roller 6, pressed against the reel 5 by the positioning forces A, B, assumes the mean skewed position 6" relative to the horizontal position 6', determined bv the angle of inclination al and sensed by the sensor 11. Now the position control for the smoothing roller 6 so acts that, for example, the positioning force A is reduced to half the set value S and the positioning force B is increased by half the set value S and the end 6b of the smoothing roller 6 is thereby pressed against the reel 5 more strongly than the end 6a. According to Figure 2b the applicable relations are: A = 0.5s B = 1.5S -C = 7 + 7 The control remains in action until the foil strip 2 again ru 1 ns horizontally on to the reel and the smoothing roller 6 assumes the horizontal set position 6'.
If the smoothing roller 6 assumes the extreme skewed position C' according to Figure 2c, sensed by the angle of inclination a,, on account of faulty winding of the foil strip 2 running on to the reel 5, through the position control of the smoothing roller 6, the positioning force A of the actuating cylinder 9 is set for example to the value 0 and the positioning force B of the actuating cylinder B to twice the set value S, continuing until the foil strip 2 again runs horizonta11v on to 10 the reel 5 and the smoothing roller 6 assumes the horizontal position 6'. In this control the relations apply: A 0 B 2S 7 = 1 -;- -B In order to avoid damage to the reel 5 and the smoothing roller 6 as a result of oscillatory movement of the same, which is caused by faulty winding up or unwinding of the fine or foil strip 2, there is the possibility to turn off the position control of the smoothing roller 6, - uating cylinders 9, or to adjust the positioning forces -1, B of the act 10 to a minimum value, as soon as the oscillations of the smoothing roller 6 exceed a limit value.
The strip reel 1 is moreover equipped with a control for adjusting the spacing a between the run-in point 12 of the striD to the reel 5 and the point of contact 13 of smoothing roller 6 and reel 5 in dependence on the reel diameter 14.
The spacing control preferably opprates as constant control, through which the spacing a is regulated to a constant value with different diameters 14 of the reel 5.
2 of the strip 2 on The spacing control between the runin point 19.
to the reel 5 and the point of contact 13 of the smoothing roller 6 with the reel 5 can be effected by length adjustment of the pivoted lever or pivoted levers 7 carrying the smoothing roller 6 or by an adjustment of the pivot point 15 of the pivoted lever or pivoted levers 7.
