Description
A DISPOSABLE PACK OF ITEMS FOR CHANGING INFANTS NAPPIES
THIS INVENTION concerns a disposable pack of items for changing infants' nappies.
The changing of nappies outside of the home environment presents a problem in that many items usually in large and heavy containers must be transported from place to place and set out where a nappy is to be changed.
The need to carry such paraphernalia presents considerable inconvenience and an object of the present invention is to provide a disposable pack of essential items for changing infants' nappies, the pack being so compact as to be easily carried in several numbers in a pocket or handbag, or the glove compartment of a vehicle.
The essential requirements are a hygenically sound surface on which the infant may be laid, a number of socalled wet wipes for cleansing, a small amount of protection cream or lotion to be applied before the clean nappy, and a container in which all used and soiled items may be placed and which may be sealed for disposal when appropriate.
According to the present invention there is provided, a disposable pack of items for changing infants' nappies, comprising a closed outer flat envelope having opening means along at least one edge, the envelope containing a folded mat of moisture impermeable material on which the infant may be laid, a first sealed sachet containing a plurality of sheets of a material impregnated with a cleansing liquid, a second sealed sachet containing a protective cream or lotion, and a folded disposal bag for subsequently containing all of the other contents, any soiled items, and the outer envelope, the bag having tie means for closure of same.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. la illustrates a disposable pack of items prior to use;
and Figs. lb to le illustrate the items contained in the pack.
Referring now to the drawings, a rectangular envelope 10 of a flexible plastics material is sealed around all four sides but includes a line 11 of perforations to provide access to and removal of the contents. The envelope 10 may be in the order of 12 cms by 12 cms and in any case less than 200 square centimetres.
Prior to use it contains four generally essential items for changing an infant's nappy. The first of these is illustrated in Fig. lb and comprises a folded mat 12 of a moisture impermeable material such as two laminated sheets one being waterproof whilst the other presents a comfortable an preferably absorbent surface. The mat 12 is folded several times to approximately one eighth of its overall size to be contained within the envelope 10.
A second item is illustrated in Fig. lc and comprises a first sealed sachet generally indicated at 13 and containing a plurality of sheets 14 of a material impregnated with a cleansing liquid. Each sheet 14 may be folded within the sachet 13 and once removed is easily shaken out to its full size. Several sheets 14 may be contained within the sachet 13, and the sachet itself is formed from a pair of superimposed sheets 15 each preferably of a paper laminated on both faces with a plastics material, and the two sheets are sealed prior to use by strips 16 of an adhesive which is easily parted by peeling back one sheet from the other. For this purpose, conveniently the adhesive strips 16 are applied close to the edges on three sides of the sheets but spaced inwardly from one edge so as to leave flaps 17 for ease of opening.
Once opened as illustrated in Fig. lc the sheets 14 can readily be removed from the sachet one-handed.
A third item as illustrated in Fig. Id comprises a second sealed sachet 18, preferably of a metallic foil, sealed around the edges and containing protective cream or lotion of the type used to protect an infant's skin against so-called nappy rash.
A fourth item contained within envelope 10 is a flat plastics bag 19 which is folded as appropriate to fit conveniently within the envelope. The bag has a pair of tie handles 20 at its open end so that after the entire pack of items has been used, everything, including a soiled nappy, may be placed into bag 19 and the handles 20 tied together to form an effective seal so that the entire article can be disposed of conveniently and hygenically.
It is envisaged that the thickness of the envelope containing all of the items will be less than 1 cm so that several such envelopes can conveniently be carried in a pocket or handbag so as to be available for immediate use wherever required.
It is not intended to limit the invention to the above example only, certain variations being possible without departing from the scope of the invention.
For example, instead of the tie handles 20 on bag 19, a wire or plastic tie strip may be provided to close the bag. Furthermore, additional items may be contained within the envelope 10 such as a further sachet containing dusting powder.
