Abstract

Bodies.-In extensible trucks of the kind in which two groups of parts, respectively fixed to the rear axle supports and to the fore axle support, are arranged for relative longitudinal movement, each group of parts is connected together by a cross-piece which is supported and slides in guide-ways formed between the truck bottom or the platform of the truck and longitudinal supports secured in spaced relation thereto. The groups of parts are composed of laths a, b disposed alternately, each group being connected at its inner end by transverse cross-pieces d, g each cross-piece being guided between the laths of the other group and longitudinal supports. These supports comprise two channel members e, f respectively secured to the groups of parts by bars c, h and cross-pieces d, g and arranged to slide alongside each other. The sides and ends are arranged to fold down to increase the platform area. The sides are preferably extensible in a manner similar that of the platform. The truck is arranged to be locked to prevent the two parts from changing their position inadvertently.
