Abstract

A partition comprising substantially vertical bars for securing cover plates 2 by means of retaining rails 3, and substantially horizontal bars secured to the substantially vertical bars for supporting the cover plates between the securing points wherein the cover plates 2 are retained by means of clips 5 inserted into the cover plates 2 and surrounding a clip section 6 secured to substantially vertical bar 1 by means of the substantially U-shaped retaining rail 3, thus allowing the use of retaining rails without outwardly projecting flanges. Consequently the joints of the cover plate are less visible. <IMAGE>

Description

1 1 1 -;> 2:3- -7 EITS a E5 A PARTITION The invention relates to a
partition comprising substantially vertical bars for securing cover plates by means of retaining rails, and substantially horziontal bars secured to the substantially vertical bars for supporting the cover plates between the securing points.
In a known partition the retaining rails comprise substantially U-shaped rails with outwardly projecting flanges partially overlapping the cover plates. The retaining rails themselves are secured to flanges of the vertical bars. The disadvantage of the known retaining rails is their visibility due to the outwardly projecting flanges.
The object of the invention is to provide a partition, which is easy to mount and dismount, and where the cover plates are joined in a less visible manner.
According to the invention a partition of the above type is characterised by the cover plates being retained by means of clips inserted into the cover plates and gripping about a clip section secured to a substantially :P vertical bar by means of the substantially U-shaped re taining rail, thus allowing the use of retaining rails without outwardly projecting flanges. Consequently the joints of the cover plate are less visible.
Advantageously the clip section is substantially of U shape with inclined sides thus facilitating the mounting and dismounting.
Sound insulation rubber strips may be inserted between the bars and the clip section.
The invention is described in greater detail below and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 illustrates a known partition, Fig. 2 illustrates a partition according to the present 2 invention, Fig. 3 is a sectional, top and perspective view respectively, of a retaining clip, and Fig. 4 illustrates a vertical bar secured to a hori 5 zontal bar.
Fig. 1 illustrates a known partition comprising vertical bars 1 with end flanges for securing cover plates by means of substantially U-shaped rails 3 with outwardly projecting flanges 3& overlapping the cover plates 2.
Fig. 2 illustrates a partition according to the present invention also comprising substantially vertical bars with end flanges la for su'porting the cover plates 2. The P latter are, however, secured to the end flanges la of the bars 1 by means of retaining clips 5 - cf. Fig. 3 - and a special, U-shaped clip section 6. Several pointed portions 5a of the clips 5 are inserted into the edges of the cover plates 2 and grip about the inclined side flanges of the clip section 6 secured to the substantially vertical bar 1. The clip section 6 and a U-shaped rail 3' are secured to the bar 1 by means of screws. The U-shaped rail 31 is not provided with outwardly projecting flanges and is thus less visible.
Heat-insulating material may be inserted in the partition between the cover plates 2.
Sound insulating rubber strips may be inserted between the vertical bar 1 and the clip section 6.
The sides of the U-shaped rails 31 may be provided with holes for retaining mountings with pins, the latter being insertable in said holes. The mountings are provided with elongated openings supporting hooks of, for instance, shelves.
The partition is easily mounted. At first the substantially vertical bars 1 are set up, optionally finished by rails of adjustable length as described in DK patent specification no. 139.784. One or more substantially horizontal bars are inserted between the substantially vertical bars 1. The horizontal bars are secured to the vertical bars by means of end portions of the horizontal
A 1 1 V 3 bars inserted in openings in the body portions of the vertical bars, cf. Fig. 4. The projecting end portions are provided with groove-shaped portions the pointed ends of which face downwards. Due to notches in the grooveshaped portions the bars are in engagement with the vertical bars. The openings in the vertical bars are of such a shape that the upper portions of said openings allow the projecting portions of the horizontal bars to reciprocate freely in longitudinal direction and rotate freely around their longitudinal axes, as described in DK patent specification no. 145.473.
The clips 5 are provided with several pointed portions 5a inserted in the edges of the cover plates as well as several curvatures and flexions. The clips tightly abut to the internal surfaces of the cover plates 2. The next portions 5c of the clips 5 grip about the inclined side flanges of the clip section 6. The flexions 5g. end in inwardly pointing portions 5A, at a height corresponding to the height of the side of the clip section 6. The inwardly facing portions 5A are followed by rounded portions 5L gliding over the inclined sides of the clip section 6 when mounting the cover plates. The mounting of the cover plates is thus facilitated, since the clip section is of elastic material, so that the portions 5c, 5d, 5e give way during mounting. In other words, the cover plates are clamped to the previously set up, vertical bars, thus allowing a single person to easily mount the partition. The cover plates 2 are comparatively easily dismounted by unscrewing the screws 7 securing the 'U-shaped rails 3' and the clip section 6.
